Thought about that too, but they're pretty set I think on the right side?

Small tidbit:

Ekblad is 1, Andersson is 1A for the Sharks. Sharks apparently will be in talks with teams once the finals are over and that will continue to July 1st. One team has reached out to them on 2nd overall but it wasn’t enough. They need a young player who is ready now for that pick or they will keep it. Vladar is the player they want in goal but it’s obviously his decision. Spending their time right now on the draft where Misa has a small edge on Martone. I was told 55-45.

Yup, Buffalo has Buffaloed themselves. That fire sale should be interesting to watch.

Tuch is a massive name to drop, isn't he the hometown kid that wanted to be there?

I agree. I just don't think it's worth the assets for an undersized 2C which isn't a need for us and doesn't move us closer to a #1C which should be our goal.

Yeah it looks it. But I think he'd be an upgrade on a 34 year old Bogosian, and if there was retention on the Flames end for Andersson I think it'd be pretty worthwhile for them from a cap perspective even if they kept Bogosian as the extra d-man.

I'd give them a ring if I were Conroy but probably still a long shot.

Final tidbit: Sharks want to speed up the process and will try and be active this summer. Money won’t be an issue and they will try and land some top fish (Marner) in the offseason. If players don’t choose the Sharks, it won’t be money. They have cap space to go after players and they want Celebrini, Smith, etc to feel a winning culture rather than a rebuild.

You’ve got to be in on Power if available. I’d much rather have him over Byram. Maybe they could trade Power for more value and keep Byram with Dahlin?

I’d easily offer up 32nd, Bruz, and Miromanov for Power.

Why is everyone limiting Rossi as a sure fired 2c?

He's only 23 and out up 60 pts without a defined top 6 role.

If he was already on our team and did that, everyone would be saying we have our 1C.

If you go after him it's because you think there's more there and his floor is a 2c.

I dont think it's crazy that he could be an 80 pt guy.

This! A 60 point center at 23. A 2c at least with 1c upside.

At 23, Lindholm was a 44 point player, Monny had just hit 64 points, Kadri was at 50 points...you get the idea. Im only using Calgary 1C centers as points of reference.

If all Rossi ever amounts to is a 60 point center, that's still a proven assett and so far better than any 2c we have in the system so far

Which players? The last time they made the playoffs they had Mike Grier and Rob Neidermayer on their team. They've gone through complete roster overhauls multiple times and are still getting the same results.

Just because you still need a #1 C doesn't mean you don't try to improve the team elsewhere.

Well that's where I do apply some size bias.
To compete I think you need a #1 centre with size.

I think Rossi sometimes gets mis-categorized as "small". He's short but stocky.

But I don't think he has the physical attributes of a #1 centre on a contending team.

And I say that as a big fan of his.

This suggests that perhaps Rasmus won't be traded at the draft, if landing targets consider him as their 1B to a free agent signing like Ekblad.

If I’m Mitch Marner I’m taking the Sharks call pretty seriously. Could be a great fit for him. Money weather team future Celebrini… lots of good reasons to look there.

That wouldn't even be close I expect.

This makes sense, and if this is the case the Flames likely have better bargaining position once Ekblad is signed, and can probably get their hands on a 2026 1st for him. Unless a team blows the flames away at the 2025 draft I doubt he moves, and a team is unlikely to do that without knowing if he will sign long term anyway.

As much as the kid in me wants the nice things now, realistically to me the 2025 draft is likely not the best value play for the Flames with Andersson. (Unless they somehow get into, say, the top 7-8)
