Ride or die mentality with a goalie in playoffs is stupid to me when he actively costs you games.
Vladar always plays great in Edmonton. Sutter was off his rocker when he played that piece of crap over and over and over and over again.

3 years on and I still have PTSD from that series. I couldn't even go into the Edmonton is No Good thread for more than a year! He will never be forgiven. The most important playoff series since the finals in 2004 and he puts up the worst goalie performance in Flames playoff history.

His putrid play could have been worse last season, but alas, I like parekh.

Maybe you should take sports a little less seriously. You're doing it wrong.

You’d be a fool not to notice that Wolf and Vladar’s stats differed only because of Wolf padding his stats playing nearly all of the games they had against the bottom feeders.

is that $17m Rupees annually? That's $250k USD yearly, surely that's a manageable contract to negotiate his release from. Is he willing to leave Russia?
From what I heard CSKA released him out of the last 2 years of his contract to pursue NHL opportunities. CSKA will retain his KHL rights, if he decides to return to Russia before the 2 years are up.

As I'm writing this, I just saw it's official as of yesterday(per the club's press release) - CSKA and Prosvetov agree to part ways, and CSKA keeps his KHL rights. I can attach a Russian link if you'd like.

As far as willing to leave Russia, he actually wants the opportunity in the NHL.

EDIT: Also found a mention of Calgary in another article without any details, but here's what they had to say(translated):
Quote:
According to SE(Sport Express), it is Calgary that is showing the greatest interest in the goalkeeper. The team is looking for reinforcements in the goal, and Ivan's candidacy is quite suitable.

We have a dedicated thread to hate the Oilers... so no! Effing Oilers made my childhood a misery. Steve Smith is my hero for life!

But yeah I've taken it so less serious, that after the Zadarov trade, I've only watched 1 whole game live. The Inzayne game vs the Sharks.

Yeah, it's just polite. Just because he played like a massive, rancid, steaming turd, and you could actually see stink lines coming off of him on the TV, doesn't mean you should call him one.

Probably just hedging their bets. Always have to be on the lookout for the next one.

for whats its worth i was told conroy was actively shopping Vlader at the deadline and thought they had a deal in place which eventually never materialized obviously. Vlader is a fan of Calgary but still wants a fighting chance at being a number 1 somewhere.

Agree, but the primary reason is probably the one way contract they gave him. I think they had him penciled in as the Flames backup last season and might have hoped to move Vladar if his surgery worked and his healed body yielded some attention grabbing stats. There was so much smoke around him last season in trade rumours - I feel like that came from inside our camp. Like an Oscar advertisement in Variety.

"For your consideration: Dan Vladar"

And the rest of Vladar's career? He is a decent NHL goalie and seems like a good guy. I would take him at a reasonable contract like I said.

You'd be a fool to not realize that Wolf is the far better player and that gap will continue to widen.

I'm fine with Cooley and Prosvetov battling it out for the backup spot.

It's the McKenna year, so the Flames might as well take risks. Either they find a good backup or they get better lottery odds.
