Default G Ivan Prosvetov to sign with Calgary Flames

According to a very knowledgeable and reliable local insider Ivan Prosvetov is going to terminate his contract with Red Army HC and sign a one-way contract with Calgary Flames.

Still a rumour but the probability is very high. If happens, say good bye to Dan Vladar and welcome your new 2025/2026 backup goalie.

Also could be insurance on Cooley no? I mean if we expose the new goalie to waivers and a team claims him I would think it’s easy come easy go.

I know nothing of this kid. Google tells me he is older (26) and had a cup of coffee with the Aves and Yotes. Even if it is one way, probably adding competition for the back up or a spot with the Wranglers.

6'5" Fourth Rounder for Coyotes in 2018. Played lots of North America. He a stud in the Russian league or something?

Yeah looks like a competition between Prosvetov and Cooley for a backup role in 2025 training camp. With both on one-way contracts.

CSKA Moscow of Russia’s Kontinental Hockey League has released goaltender Ivan Prosvetov from the final two years of his contract to pursue NHL opportunities
Quote:
The 6’5″ netminder’s NHL work to date leaves much to be desired. In 19 starts and five relief appearances across four seasons with Arizona and Colorado, he posted an 8-9-2 record with a 3.70 GAA and .881 SV%. His below-average save percentage equates to 15.3 goals allowed above average during that time.

He was not a stud here. But Red Army HC is a very specific club in terms of playing style and internal atmosphere. It just was not a match, it happens. Just agreed to terminate the contract on mutual basis.

I guess Cooley can replace Hrudy on the broadcasts.

Goalie numbers mean nothing to me, especially that league. Is that good?

This is definitely a Vlad 2.0 kind of vibe IMO.

Interesting if it does happen. Nothing about his numbers stand out, He was in the AHL a year ago with good number, but very poor numbers before that.

I wonder if Vladar wants too much money or more playing time?

According to Elite Prospects, his raw save percentage was t-22nd amongst goalies with at least 10 games played. The KHL is a 23-team league.

Watched a lot of Prosvetov in the desert. Big guy who has real problems with consistency. Actually reminds me a lot of Vladar.

Was Prosvetov the Avalanche goalie who stoned the Flames a few years back? I remember listening to this game in the car and wondering who this goalie was. It might have been Prosvetov but I'm not sure. I remember it being a Russian sounding last name.

The last I heard Vladar wanted to return to Calgary, so I'm not sure there's any issues. Comes down to who Calgary wants to go with.
