Normally I wouldn't either but two firsts, both mid to late, in a draft with very shallow depth? I would.

I suspect it wouldn’t cost both firsts, but I’d rather give up both firsts in this draft over 1 first plus any prospects drafted in the first 3 rounds last year. Would they do 1 first plus Misa?

Rossi is a reasonably young and productive player but the size thing does matter somewhat.

If it was to cost 2 firsts, I’d definitely want a contract agreed upon before pulling the trigger.

Kadri or Frost will have to move down and 1 will lose his PP time. Not sure how thrilled either would be.

I don't mind Rossi but with his size he isn't going to be a #1C.

If Morgan Frost wants PP time, he can earn it.

If Frost is playing lots of PP time, you are not a very good team.

But if Minny doesn't want to pay Rossi the big bucks, that's telling you something.

I don’t watch enough Minnesota games to have a gauge on what Rossi is. His numbers look progressively good each year. Is his production tied/dependent on playing with Kaprizov? What is his 5-on-5 point production like or advanced stats?

After coming over in the trade, Frost was easily the best at entering the O-zone with the puck. Few other members on this team were capable of doing this consistently. Also, the best in the face-off circle, I believe. Those are important skills for a PP.

Even strength coris is 50.7% and 52% the year before. He is a plus in xGF of 9 this year and 4.8 last year. 16 of his 60 points came on the PP.

Keep in mind Kaprizov missed a good chunk of the season.

He is a good player, but his tiny stature will keep him from being that primetime #1C we need to win the cup. But he would be an excellent #2. So that makes Frost our #3C with Kadri still here.

He only took 528 faceoffs and was 46%, so I wonder if they used him on the wing more.

Him and Zary are the few players who can enter the zone clean and keep possession.

He is a RFA and you bring in a Rossi he will be pushed down the lineup.

I realize that the #1C is the biggest need, but that doesn't mean you don't try to improve your team elsewhere. Rossi would project to be the team's long-term 2nd line centre.

I don't know why Kadri would move down, at least now.
Frost can move to the wing, or play well enough to hang on to his spot.

Rossi is short but he's fairly stocky and willing to go to the dirty areas.

Maybe not as extreme of a pest but there's some Gallagher in him, but with more offensive upside.

Proposed 2025 1st and 2025 2nd for him.
2025 1st would be 11th, which would be in the area where a guy like McQueen could fall.
I would do it

I would also take an 2026 1st in hopes it's even worse.
Do it.

Don't the Penguins have Letang and Karlsson?

Yeah to me this is a move worth pursuing.

11 and 59 for Rasmus, maybe it depends on who is on the board at that pick that the Flames would be targeting, but as a night-before-the-draft kind of trade I still like it as it gives some solid ammo to move even further up for the right player.

I'd take 11 and the 2nd...wouldn't even think twice.

11, 18, 32

That also gets into the range where 11+32 could get you 8 or something if somebody you really want falls.

Or you get a chance to move up into the top 5 even with 11 + 18

Puckpedia values 5 less than 11+18

That would be beyond stupid from the Penguins perspective, but I guess maybe they're still deadset on exhausting everything for Syd.

It’s just a proposal by a blogger. I guess the thinking is Andersson would be their Weegar - the vet to anchor a young developing d-corps. But you’d think the Pens could just look to the UFA market for that.

Pens are probably looking at the Washington turn around and trying to figure out if they can do something similar and take advantage of Sid’s last years - both as a player but also as a revenue driver for the team

A draft pick who will play 2-3 years down the line best case isn’t helping that
