5 PP's for Sweden already compared to 1 for Canada.

IIHF refs are such a joke.

Mike Johnson is not amused with the reffing.

Celebrini from Crosby. 4-2 Canada.

Refs better make a couple calls against Canada before they get a large lead.

Austria made the playoffs by walloping Latvia 6-1.

Good for them. If I'm reading wiki correctly, last time they made the top 8 was in 1994.

I like the current tournament system in that the smaller countries don't just show up to be embarrassed anymore, they can actually play meaningful games and win some games. Every team except France won at least 1 game.

Just better vibes.

Foerster with a great power move to get around Elias Pettersson and Markstrom to put Canada back up 2-1.
Foerster is really good. Philly stole a stud of a power forward late in the first round of that 2020 draft. Nice to see a guy like him on the Canada club.

Any tournament without Estonia in it is a tournament not worth watching.

If you're still letting the knucklepuck by you and/or being lassoed by a Texan child you're not quite yet ready for the bigtime!

They are going to have to leap over the hockey power house teams from Israel, Croatia, and Serbia first.

Poor Indonesia, but I am actually impressed that they are in the IIHF.

Funny enough, Iceland lost and ended up getting Silver in Div 2 B group. Georgia ended up getting the promotion to Div 2 group A. Iceland will have to try again to master the hockey elites of Bulgaria, Chinese Taipei, Thailand and New Zealand. How the mighty have fallen.

I don’t think that’s really a thing. What the coaches of European national teams will often do is reserve a roster spot or two on their squads for guys who play in their domestic league. It’s an identity thing, and it sends a signal to the guys in the domestic leagues that they’re not forgotten.

They’re not going to pass up an obviously better NHL player to fill that spot. But once you’re down to the 21st-22nd skater, there usually isn’t a lot to choose between the worst NHLer and the best domestic player.
