I've literally never heard of that happening.
In Finland every organization is extremely openly proud whenever they produce an NHL draft pick, despite it always being a little bittersweet.
Most Finnish NHL players who end their careers in Europe also go back to okay for their original team.

Agreed, I have zero faith in Pennanen currently.
That said, he stepped into impossibly large boots, and I have some hope that maybe he'll smarten up once the jitters are out. But my expectation is that right now he is basically keeping the seat warm for Raipe. (Both have contracts that end after next season.)

Nice to see someone here has watched some hockey.
If every team in the NHL made the playoffs, and it was a 1 game series, you'd be shocked sometimes who would win the cup.
A 7 game series is crap shoot enough, but a single game?
It's why these single game knock outs at world competitions brings many surprises.

Happens with Russia all the time, I think. They definitely prefer guys for the national teams who play in the Russian leagues. Obviously the really good NHLers will still play, but they always seem to find room for KHL guys.

It appears as though there’s an odd wrinkle this year though. If Sweden and Denmark both make the quarters and are slated to play each other (which would be the case if both win later today), the crossover for the quarters will not occur (in order for both teams to host their QF). The teams would stay within the group ( A1 vs A4; A2 vs A3; etc) for just the QF round.
