Have the separatists even heard first Nations leaders speak?
Their literal words were "don't like it? Get out". Treaty lands will never get on board with separation. Smith would have to tap dance on spring ice to forward that petition.

Reading the recall rules for Alberta.... we cannot collect signatures within Smith's riding directly, but we can go and support someone who lives in the riding and help them collect the signatures.
I am game for a road trip to help organize, commute, or even feed some locals in Smith's riding in order to get those signatures. Maybe that should be the next big CP Jihad??!?

She'd just do like PP and run again in a safer riding. The only way to get rid of her is for the internal party to boot her, but she keeps feeding them the morsels of BS they love wolfing down, so she isn't going anywhere.
Voters own this disaster.

True, but recalling her would make huge headlines. Media would be talking about it across the country and it may even make it into the US news cycle. Even if she is not removed from government, it would be a massive black mark against her "mandate" to think she can keep doing all of this crap.
It would also take some of the wind out of the sails of anyone who is blindly supporting her and make them question the situation a little bit. If those people start to dig into the stories at all surrounding the UCP, they may realize that this party is not good for their interests.
Every little bit helps to raise awareness and try to make sure that the UCP do not win the next election.

When asked about his comment, Smith said she has a great friendship with Ford but she doesn’t “tell him how he should run his province.”
“I would hope that he doesn’t tell me how I should run mine,” she added.

You know I hate say it, But saying you can't take the land because the First Nations have some treaty veto over it, is probably going to win them more votes than it will cause cases of self reflection. By saying you will break the treaties, they will hear that the treaties will be renegotiated, and the would be a feature not a bug for them.
The Messaging needs to stay focused on a guy like this wearing an Alberta flag.

What does Danielle Smith make for a salary? Can’t somebody just offer her a higher paying job in the States so she goes away? It would certainly be worth it to entice her away from here.

I hate her so much, and I can’t stand what she’s doing to Albertans and to this country. She’s a f***ing traitor and she needs to do exactly what the First Nations chiefs have just told her to do: pack your bags and f*** off.

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith says she's willing to risk a separation referendum to avert the growth of a political rival.
Speaking to CTV News Channel, Smith was asked if it wasn't easier to quell separatism by taking it off the table.
Smith says, “if there isn’t an outlet, it creates a new party.”
So its not just to distract from the scandals its also to avoid competition for votes from some further right wing nuts.
Bold strategy Cotton, lets see how it works out.

It's pretty clear that Gina Reinhardt has (under the table) offered some golden parachute deals to higher up members of the UCP, as long as mines get made on the eastern slopes.
Probably other such deals rumbling around. Once the 5 5 year cycle is done, it will be interesting to see where former UCP mlas end up.
This is why transparency is important. And a free media.

Grande Prairies Cool Aid Society closing after provincial funding cut
https://www.ctvnews.ca/edmonton/arti...rovincial-cut/
The Cool Aid Society will shut down at the end of June after provincial cuts to its funding.
The 45-year-old society provided no-cost after-school and evening programs for children in Grande Prairie and currently serves over 300 registered families, with daily drop-in attendance ranging from 25 to 70 children.
The decision comes after the society lost about 90 per cent of its budget after Recovery Alberta Mental Health and Addiction cut its funding, telling Gerber that it was “nothing personal” but rather a change in the province’s mandate to fund intervention rather than prevention.
Isn't this ass backwards? funding intervention over prevention?
####ing UCP.

The part you are missing is that the cruelty is the point. Prevention isn't very cruel, mandated treatment is. Plus they are trying to build up an industry here, and you can't goose the recovery economy with an ounce of prevention.

She wouldn't be able to embezzle in the USA with such impunity. She'd need to go somewhere like South America to truly fulfill her ambitions

The Republican Party of Alberta will outline its five-step vision for a stronger, independent Alberta tonight (May 9) at the Cochrane RancheHouse.
“For too long, Alberta has borne the weight of Confederation,” a party news release stated. “Our energy industry has been demonized, our wealth drained, and our people treated as bargaining chips in Ottawa’s political game. In the face of this sustained neglect, the UCP has chosen appeasement over action.”

So the usual, "We're strong and powerful and everyone is being mean to us," crap.
Are we great and rich and supporting the whole country or are we being picked on? Pick a lane. Whiny and arrogant is a bad look.

I wish these traitorous clowns would just pack up their s*** and move to another country where they’d be happier instead of trying to break up mine.

This implies that they have less of a right to self determination than you do.
