I would love to see it too, Crosby only has a few years left, Flames might make the playoffs in the next couple of years, but it would likely have to be a magic run like 04 for them to win the cup while Crosby is still playing. Crosby and Mackinnon playing together in Colorado would certainly make that team cup favorites. Might even be enough to make McDavid think twice about resigning with the Oilers.

I would love to see Crosby playing for Colorado. I guess according to your standards I have mental issues.
I also don't think it will happen. He can't just sign in Colorado since he signed a two year extension in September so that has him under contract for two more years. Does Colorado have the assets to bring him on board? He isn't the main guy in the league anymore but he is worth a lot to Pittsburgh so it will cost a lot for anyone to pry him away from the Penguins.

Quantity isn't getting you the #2 pick from SJ, you'd have to give up something exceptional in a position of need for them. They already have a very strong prospect pool that experts rank very high. Why would they ever want what would amount to more of the same for the #2 pick?
Reverse the situations, there's no way we'd ever accept these kinds of offers from other teams. If we had a deep prospect pool and the #2 pick we'd want something back in the form of a game changer - otherwise we'd just keep the pick.

Coronato + 18 + Mews
I think that's the type of offer that maybe gets you to 2nd. But still probably not. Unless Grier really likes Coronato.

They're not trading Coronato who just signed a long term deal in Calgary.

This is an annual trend when the draft is near and CP wants to trade up.
I guess my question is, would SJ take Kadri, Rasmus, Coleman, Backlund for #2? They would 100% say no, but if we traded these guys for assets, maybe we just get #2 in 2026 for free.

That's the type of offer...of course we aren't trading him but to get it done SJ would want guys like Coronato or Parekh

To get pick #2 would have to include parehk or wolf.
A mixed bag of assets isn't going to cut it.

Yeah, I agree it is unlikely to happen, just saying that's what we would probably have to do. I personally would do that 10/10 times, which to me means it's probably still not enough.

What about Vegas 1st in 26 to get it done?

Probably, but I didn't say Bystedt was Sam Morton, just that they had a similar production in the AHL last year, and that I see him projecting more as a 3rd/4th line centre in the NHL. That's why I'm not as high on him as some of the other posters.

First Line Centre

At least in the media it is seemingly a foregone conclusion that Rossi will be available from the Wild.
If the Flames are making moves for a center I think that they target assets toward Rossi before tripling down on a move for Misa.
Quote:
Rossi, 23, is a pending restricted free agent this summer, likely to command a big raise on the three-year entry-level contract that carried a total value of $2.59 million.
And despite his breakout 24-goal, 60-point campaign, the Wild eventually demoted Rossi to fourth line in the six-game first-round loss to the Vegas Golden Knights in the Stanley Cup playoffs, then publicly declared a search to find help for their No. 1 center, Joel Eriksson-Ek.
“We’ll see what happens. There’s contract talks. There’s player movement — not just for Marco; for anybody," Wild GM Bill Guerin was quoted as saying of Rossi by The Athletic.

I don't get this at all from the Wilds perspective, but he would be an amazing grab for the Flames.

Any offer for Rossi would either set us back over all because of the quantity of assets, or would not be interesting to MIN. Unless there is a Frost like opportunity.
I'd rather see Flames move Ras and log jam guys for picks and trust the scouting.
Maybe grab some help in free agency if needed.

I don't see the Flames trading up. Conroy fancies himself "something of a scout himself". He'll want to exercise his scouting prowess to pull his diamonds in the rough from the draft.
I could definitely see Conroy trading draft picks for an already somewhat established young player though. If Rossi is on the block, Conroy is definitely offering first round picks.

I agree with this strategy, but it's more of a tank strategy and I just don't know if that will happen.
Trade Coleman, Rasmus and Kadri in the next 9 months and we get a top player in the draft and fix the log jam.
Even if we did this, going after Misa makes sense with the extra picks and prospects as well as we have extra picks already in the next draft and should add more for the players we trade. Doubt SJ looks at us as good trade partners, unless we get good young players for the vets we move. I think SJ moves #2, they want young players that can play now.
I trust our scouts will fill up the cupboards again.

And Dan Vladar is currently of high interest for the Sharks. That order from what I was told is: 1. Vladar, 2. Samsonov, 3. Lyon. They want to add a goalie to play with Askarov.

Above is my post from a few pages earlier in the thread.
Sharks order is currently: Schaefer, Misa, Martone, Hagens. 60-40 Misa over Martone. They feel Martone is the best offensive player in the draft in terms of transitioning to the NHL but Misa is the better overall player.

Rossi > Mercer all things equal.
Rasmus probably needs to be traded for parts to make the trade happen though.
Coleman may be an interesting player for the Wild. Or perhaps Farabee. One of those, Mews, and the later 1st is what I would guess value looks like.
