The schtick you’ve got going where you provide some meta commentary/mocking of people’s reactions to things is less interesting to everyone than having an actual opinion on the thing, FYI.
I appreciate your opinion.

Did anyone see the actual handshake? How did Carney do? That is the measure of the man and forms about 80% of Trump's opinion on people.
I am actually serious. How did he do?
From the CBC
Carney and Trump were all smiles and exchanged a friendly handshake at the White House entrance. Trump met Carney at the front door of the West Wing.
There appeared to be no power moves through body language.
Fun historical fact: Trudeau practised his palm-up handshake on Trump's shoulder on the plane down to Washington before their meeting. There was no sign of that today.

I feel like he stopped doing this after he got embarrassed by a few people waiting for it, like Trudeau and Macron.

Personally I think Canada and Canadians should cease diplomacy until the Americans change course (drastically). No point in talking to them.
Can start again when they agree:
1) that Canada as a 51st state is never mentioned again;
2) they agree to use real data and context when discussing trade imbalances
3) they agree they do need us and our resources.
Until then literally don’t talk to them. You can like keep their diplomat in Canada but leadership and others should basically just stop talking to them and the last message should be we’ll talk to you when the above conditions are met and if breached again we’ll stop talking again.
No value in the facade and pretend handshakes and friendliness. Things aren’t friendly. They can get ####ed.

While it would be great to see done, it's just not possible.
I think Carney is playing it correctly for now. Advocating for Canada's industries and businesses, accentuating the needs on both sides for fairness; and negotiating trade deals with other nations and trading blocs.
Canadians have harped on being too tied to the USA since the first FTA was signed; however, we are a capitalist system and companies can choose who to do business with.
Hopefully this shows that our special relationship is no longer on solid ground and these businesses with government assistance (connections/trade agreements, not financial) start looking at larger markets.
I also hope the Federal Government works with all provinces to reduce trade barriers and getting products to market (however, Smith's approach can go pound sand)

I was concerned at first when I saw that the setup was similar to the one with Zelensky. However, Carney sat up straight closer to the screen, while Trump sat back doing his thing in a less threatening manner.
I thought Carney did very well. He seemed quite cool and confident, and spoke well when given a chance. However, as Trump usually does, he hogged the conversation, although seemed to like and respect Carney.
