Every Facebook Marketplace interaction lately seems to be a scam:
"Hi I am out of town for work and can e-transfer you and pick up in 3 days. Does that work?"
Then proceed to send some phishing scam pseudo Interac looking page.
I only accept cash now and people with reviews.

Seems to be a trend in the medical industry be it physicians, optometrist, dentists, etc to spam you with text and email reminders to be on time for your appointment, only to make you sit and wait for 45-60 minutes in the waiting room. I guess my time doesn’t matter.

That's a legit gear grinder. I had an old HR manager years ago who invoiced his physician for his time wasted when this happened. They apologized and reimbursed him for his time.

I had an appointment last week and I ended up being late for it for the first time ever, and they canceled my appointment for being 4 minutes late and told me I would have to reschedule. I told them no, that I never get in on time, so give me the appointment, which they ended up doing.

Wow. 4min is within the 5min etiquette grace period.
I guess Ontario is cruel.

I hate the one night of the sleep that’s decent due to exhaustion when you wake up, there is that nice feeling for about five seconds then every worry is instantly rammend into your head and you wish you didn’t wake up for 7 years?

I heard somewhere it was called sleep amnesia and it was so you didn't wake up screaming. It may have been a comedian, but damn if it isn't true.

14th and 15th Ave were changed from two-way streets to single lane one-way streets to accommodate bus traffic that would have to be diverted during the 17th Ave reconstruction (well, it was all traffic, but buses in particular were sensitive to the space limitations the detour presented). 14th and 15th are narrower than 17th so making it a single lane is how they could keep parking on both sides and keep buses moving efficiently, but did leave a bit of extra room so painted cycle lanes were added (painted lanes suck, but do help get people used to the idea to a dedicated cycle space
Even though 17th Ave Construction has finished and the buses have left, they kept the configurations on 14th and 15th Ave as they sorted out the long term plans (repaving, water main repairs, accessibility improvements, etc.)
14th Ave will go back to being a two-way street with parking on each side, while 15th Ave will remain a one-way street, remove the painted cycle lane in order to build a protected cycle lane that will match the rest of the Cycle Track Network. This will remove a lane of parking on 15th Ave since it won't be able to fit the two-way protected cycle track, a vehicle lane, and both rows of vehicle parking.
|
On a side note, speaking of 14th / 15th Ave & bike lanes, as someone who just spent several years living on 14th Ave, it GMG when someone using a bike lane goes the opposite way as the one-way traffic.
14th is one-way WB, and 15th is one-way EB. It's simple. The amount of times I see someone on a scooter just barreling down the bike lane on those roads right into incoming one-way traffic boggles my mind. Just quickly pop down one avenue and stick with the flow of traffic! Feels like an accident waiting to happen, I saw it almost daily. Stupid.

Barcelona comes to mind - a very dense city. 16,000 /km2. Calgary is 1,600 /km2.

And speaking from another perspective, my wife manages a physiotherapy office. No shows are not unusual and they charge you if you do this. Late is different (for them anyway) and 4 minutes is practically on time anyway. You will still get in but your appointment ends at the original time.

Cyclists going in the wrong direction in the bike paths isn't that unusual either.

Yeah I put off replacing my windshield for 3 years (it was on the passenger side so easy to ignore) because I knew as soon as I would do it, it would happen again. I finally relented.. and sure enough one week later I got another one. It also hit on the edge of the windshield, so no possibility of a quick fix.
Why do we even bother?

Mine badly needs replacing, I'm hoping if I wait until after street cleaning I'll at least improve my odds of getting through the summer unscathed.

The good news is that your new windshield getting cracked means no more snow in May.
