One could make the argument for Hutson since he had insane numbers for a rookie defenseman, and also because his team made the playoffs and had no business being there. However, the Flames did have more points overall and technically "made" the playoffs, but lost on a technicality.

Honestly, all 3 are very worthy candidates. No shame in losing in a group like this.

I get the sentiment for Wolf, but honestly I think you can't make a wrong choice here. All three had fantastic seasons.

Coming in 1st 2nd or 3rd in voting as a goalie is still impressive. Not only that but he has battled his whole life to get to this spot.

Congrats to Wolf - I wasn't sure he'd make the cut the way things work...

Big sharks fan and wanted Celebrini to win it, but I have to admit that Hudson's season was even more impressive. A G for Calder is always going to be a challenge. I'm glad that it's this three - a D, a C and a G that all had amazing seasons.

They didn’t fail to make the playoffs on a technicality. They failed to make them based on the rules.

With 91 points, then proceeded to get eliminated in 5 games.

Wolf got the Flames to 96 points and could've feasibly made as much or more of a series out of a hypothetical first round match up.

Still don't think Huston holds weight over Wolf in terms of the MVP argument based on the above, but he'll benefit from playing in the east and having eye popping D numbers on his side.

Hutson wins this but as western HR voter told me in a head to head series Calgary would likely crush Montreal led by Wolf, unfortunately most of the voters are in the east.

Same points. Rules beyond that are a technicality by definition.

Failing to make the playoffs on a technicality would suggest they missed based on some small detail or obscure rule.

The rules were known all season long. We talked about what Calgary needed to get to make the playoffs pretty much every game at the end of the season.

Failing to make the playoffs because there is no cross over rule is not a technicality when there has never been such a rule.
