Wow. Blows a huge lead and loses his own riding, but definitely worth trying that again.
Maybe they’re gonna take a page out of the liberal playbook and keep their unpopular leader at the helm while the opposition make all of their attacks about him. Then a few months before the next election have him announce that he’s stepping down and replace him with Doug Ford

I believe there is a clause in the constitution that guarantees every province gets at least as many constituencies as Senate seats. To change that, Canada would have to get 7/10 provinces to agree with at least 51% agreement.

Oh, if we're considering whether it's likely to get enough people to agree to a change then the whole discussion is moot - those who benefit from the current system will always block changes.

Only responding for information purposes - not complaining about the dental program.

But May 1 is adults 55-64
May 15 is adults 18-34
May 29 is adults 35-54

So much for doing things differently and moving away from US suppliers.

Last-minute changes on a $100-million purchase of night-vision equipment for the Canadian Army have excluded European firms and now favours U.S. manufacturers, defence company representatives say.

The move is raising questions about Prime Minister Mark Carney’s promises to decrease reliance on U.S. suppliers and to boost defence alliances with European nations.
Bids for the contract are to be submitted on May 2.

But recent changes in specifications for the image intensifier tubes that are the heart of the binoculars have all but limited those to systems built by U.S.-firms. That, in turn, means the parts would be covered under U.S.-arms export regulations, allowing the United States to control the flow of those critical parts, defence industry representatives say.

“We are surprised that the technical requirements of Canada’s Binocular Night Vision Devices procurement exclude industry-leading European manufacturers of component parts,” Frederic Guilhem, a top official at Photonis, said in a statement to the Ottawa Citizen. “As a result, the small number of bidders who might meet this unusual criteria are favoured, rather than prioritizing best possible technical capability for the end user — the Canadian Armed Forces.”
Photonis, which develops and manufactures high-tech electro-optical systems, is based in France. It’s products are distributed in Canada by Cadex Defence, a Quebec firm.

Many NATO nations use Photonis image intensifier tubes in their night-vision equipment, including Germany, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Spain, Sweden, Netherlands, Finland and Poland. French and Australian forces also use Photonis systems.

Article content
Unlike the U.S.-built image intensifier tubes, there are no export restrictions on the Photonis systems or other European-built night-vision equipment.

The procurement criteria was changed on March 5th per the article. They should determine why the criteria was changed but this does pre-date Carney.

Figures. My kids finally landed jobs that include dental benefits. Just in time for the program to be expanded.

I actually heard someone say how happy they were with the UCP for getting dental benefits in - and how pissed they were at the Liberals for how expensive utilities and insurance has gotten.

You should certainly let Charlie Angus know that everything is ok in NDP land and that the dental care plan was worth the complete decimation of the party.

He's been raging a bit of late but he needs to be reminded it's the legacy that matters most.

I jest though, the dental plan is definitely a benefit to Canadians in need.

This press conference by Carney is a bit of fresh air. A lot different than listening to Trudeau. Just straight forward and kinda boring, just the way I like it.

Conservative MP Damien Kurek will resign to trigger a by-election in Battle River—Crowfoot for party leader Pierre Poilievre to run in. This is the safest Conservative seat in Alberta. Kurek was re-elected on Monday with 81.8% of the vote.

You certainly can't say they weren't willing to sacrifice everything for it as the party is in shambles.

I guess the CPC is going to shove PP down Canadians throats one way or another.
