The agent is involved as well when presenting teams, he has the intel on the contract and situations of players.

WE hardly had room for our own players to start the year, and it took a injury to get Honzek in.

actually, Honzek made it out of camp, which should be the end of the conversation right there

take a look at the wingers on STL and ask yourself if you really think the Flames' group is materially stronger - it's better than ours (IMO)

Coronato also did, but Honzek isn't on the 2nd line if Sharangovich isn't injured to start the year.

St.Louis has a better top end of wingers but he probably has a 3rd line role on them at worst if he didn't break out.

We had guy slike Zary on our 4th line this year.

Who would we have moved out at the beginning of camp to make room for Holloway?

Also, if he wanted out of Edmonton then pretty much any team would have been better than the Flames from a risk to match scenario.

If the Oilers matched a signed offer sheet with the Flames, life would be hell for Holloway with the ongoing scorn he'd receive from their fans.

No one - he makes the team and Honzek doesn't.

Kirkland, Rooney, Klapka (early, bad Klapka), Duehr, Pelletier, Hunt, Bishop and early Kuzmenko all played for the Flames this year. Holloway is dressing every game, and it isn't debatable. Yes, some of those guys are Cs, but Zary could play C with Holloway on the wing - better option than any of these guys.

It is hilarious that you rant every day that the Flames are talentless but you continue to try and defend that Holloway wouldn't make the Flames lineup. You just like to argue, you don't seem to care what it's about.

The fact that the Blues did them both at once really put the Oilers against the clock. Had it only been Holloway, the Oilers may have matched than had time to try and sort things out. They had to go get Podkolzin as a replacement for him so this was like a million dollar difference between Holloway and the proverbial "Replacement Player".

In hindsight it's easy to say that the Flames should have offered 4 to Holloway. But again would he fit with the Flames like he did with the Blues? That's impossible to know. For the Blues this move made a lot of sense as it was likely the 45 and 77 picks and cash being given up. Flames were probably thinking 37 and 69 type of thing and needing to get their own third back.

I doubt a team paints themselves into this spot this year. Jeff Skinner isn't getting a deal like that on July 1 from anyone with any RFA's who would be looking for a raise.

No one is arguing, I asked you a simple question. Instead of making personal attacks and being angry about everything improve your tone.

The team was cluttered with wingers, I never said he wouldn't make our team, we would have to move someone out to give him the role he has. Most of the spots in our lineup was filled in the summer.

If Calgary did it the Oilers would have matched.

This is the team that rushed Draisaitl off IR just to play us.

So yeah, I'm glad it was St. Louis that did.

I'm trying to parse all the negatives here... you think the Oilers would have matched any offer sheet the Flames made? I agree.
