In honour of Snek, with a hat tip to the late Ron ‘Buck Shot’ Barge:
I have a sneaky feeling about this season. Hold on to your root beer!
And now for the rare (for me) self-quote.
Turned out my sneaky feeling was right about the snake reaching 96 points (on the nose), but wrong about making the playoffs. Do I get half credit?
Snek not know playoff. Snek only know 96. This is the way.

If you would have told me at the beginning of the season that the Flames would match an NHL season points record, this isn't the one that would have came to mind.
This is a post with mixed emotions. The red snake won the final two games and finished at the 96 point level. It went 11-2-3 in the final 16 games, good for a 128 point pace. In the last 23 games it went 13-4-6, which was a 114 point pace. Games 38-68 put it in a big hole with a 13-14-4 record, only good enough for a 79 point pace in 31 games. The red snake spent 57/58 games below the black line from game 26-81, with only game 37 being above it by 0.024 points. It finished at the magic number, so the Flames should be in the playoffs. It's disappointing, but I am looking forward to next year.

It's been fun. With that, I bid you all adieu.

The number 97 is subject to the Edmonton curse. It is intrinsically No Good.
(Apropos of nothing: When the Oilers are eliminated this year, if it's on the road, the home team should play ‘The Wreck of the Old 97’ on the PA.)

What I'm saying is I need to punch something in the taint over all this.
Snek has no taint. Snek laugh at you, hee hee hee hee.

Sometimes stats, like polls, just don't tell the whole story. Sigh.
Thanks Squiggs96...I don't want to punch you, but if Gary Bettman were available...or someone in the Sit Room...or one of the Refs who screwed us....
At the end of the day, one of those games that the Flames were just...a bit...more careful than they were, cost them a kick in the dance. There's learning for them in that.
