At 19, Makar was playing in the NCAA. Parekh has not been playing at a higher level of hockey than that.
A junior defenceman who ‘just plays his game’ is not going to have any idea what he's doing against NHL opponents. The very least he needs is a chance to learn the defensive system and get acquainted with his partner.

Ncaa is over rated. Yes the elite teams are elite but there's also alot of teams low as the low in the chl.
Also false he was 20 when he leaped into the ncaa. At 19 Mkar was still playing AJHL . A pretty deep step down so players can still have NCAA eligibility at the time.
50 % of the nhl come from Chl graduates vs 13% from the NCAA . You know a League that exists to produce pro players vs a leugue that has some exceptional stars that want to get an education as backup . The exceptional stars are turning pro regardless of path in hockey they take but now those tht are elite in hockey have what? Usually 2 years of education more than their chl conter parts. Rarely do the athletes that are truly exceptional get a full 4 year degree.
I maintain the chl is still better because If you don't play college your going to the echl or ahl where you are playing literally with men, not "men " aged 21,22,23". Actual.fully developed men.
I'm not saying he's the next Makar or Hughes definitely BUT IMO he's coming from a leugue that's it's main purpose is to develop hockey players vs a system to fund 1 school and when your done who cares.
The NCAa is IMO a fall back leugue. The top players are making it to pro hockey regardless. The NCAA exists to produce money for that school. The majority of NCAA plays know that pro hockey is not in their future so they do the college route to get a degree with minimal hopes of a pro career.
On the other hand the chl produces the most pro hockey players for every level world wide for top teir talent .
I'm just saying throw the kid in the games to figure it out. He comes from a week make pros first and foremost system.
I'd 100% die on the hill that Makar ,Hughes,Fox etc would be at least be 25 to 30 % better had they played in the chl vs college .
Let's not pretend the NCAA is a higher leugue for 20,21,22,23 age players to play in vs the AHL maybe slightly better than echl. The top players going pro any ways will never use their 2 year degrees to make money . They will play a year or 2 at top dollar to afford to pay people in the same fields they studied for 2 years that have masters or phds to get #### done . All the way from medical fields to people that maintain their property.
The way currently the NCAA is set up is a joke. And to equate it as a best on best leque is a freaking force.
