You're wrong. The Board Of Governors can make suggestions of rules to him but he has the power when it comes to league rul changes and interpretation of them. The Board Of Governors selects the commissioner and can relieve him of his duties. They have no say in playoff format.
In Section 6.3, the commissioner's duties are spelled out as having "responsibility for the general supervision and direction of all business and affairs of the league", co-ordinates matters between member clubs and serves as the principal public spokesman for the league. The commissioner also has authority over dispute resolution, league committees, interpretation of league rules, appointment of league staff, NHL financial matters, contracting authority, scheduling, officials and disciplinary powers.[2] The commissioner also determines the date and places of board of governors meetings

Wild on a back to back in Van. Vancouver plays well on Saturday nights at home traditionally. Hopefully they don't shut down Quinn Hughes.
Maybe the Wild start Fleury, but given how poor he was today, I kinda doubt it given the stakes(if CGY wins Friday night of course).
Wouldn't shock me if VAN pulls out the win vs Minny.

You have the benefit of hindsight.
There was nothing from the 3-2 goal that would have suggested those guys needed a reset. I doubt there was a single fan that said "Call a timeout" when the play was stopped after the 3-2 goal.
It's Easy to say after the fact but if he calls a timeout and they still score to make it 3-3 still then people will say he panicked after the 3-2 goal and the timeout made the team nervous.

You know what is not listed in section 6.3? Changes to the rules. The Board of Governors does that. The playoff format is a rule.

Or the Wild and Blues could just lose all their games

It is kinda crazy
Stars blow 5-2 lead in 3rd
Wild blow 7-4 lead in 3rd
Flames blow 3-1 lead in 3rd
Something in the water

It somewhat blows me away that there are 16 teams in the league worse than the Flames. Watching them all year they’ve never looked good or like they knew what they’ve been doing. I appreciate that they’re making the most of what they’ve got.
Friday will either be closure or else a reignition of faint hopes.
Oh and I should mention the beautiful Kylington assist tonight. Would have probably preferred him to stay off the score sheet but I’m happy for him!

Actually it does change a lot because it would have given them one extra point of leeway, and put more pressure on Minny & Stl.
Looking at the final 4 opponents for the Blues/Wild... I have a hard time seeing any of them win a game in regulation. They're all mathematically out of it, and they're playing against a team trying to cement their playoff spot.
And that's on top of the Flames needing the 8 points. Given the current state of their powerplay, and Wolf starting to look human, it's going to be extremely tough...

In terms of playing the young guys...that should have been happening anyways.
This team needs an infusion of skill and a bit of a spark.
Parekh should be in on defense.
At forward it doesn't have to be Suniev, but one of Suniev, Kerins, Stromgren, etc should have probably been called up already.

The last three Anaheim goals were uncontested point blank shots from the slot. Hilarious to blame the goalie.
Where was the D? Where was the C?
That’s what’s missing from this team.

For the last 5 minutes
and all I said is the math doesn't change much, not that its likely. All that changes is regulation vs. OT for the opponent loss

He was obviously rattled...there was a post and a near whiff. The last 6 or so shots almost all went in. Its okay, happens to the best of them.

Don’t forget two pucks about 1mm from goals in key situations in close games.

IMO Parekh will be in, he's had one morning skate...Suniev and the Wranglers guys IDK. Flames record lately is far better than the Wranglers

10th place team goes on a 12 game winning streak...and it looks like they might need all 12 wins to sneak past the Flames

The math did change quite a bit. It's clear you're convinced otherwise so we agree to disagree.
Like if a 4% chance lowers to a 2% chance... it might seem like "only a 2% change!" but in reality it's a 50% change.

Well maybe a professional hockey coach is paid to identify when his team is rattled and do something about before giving up the goals that likely ended their season.

It changed by 1 point...although the Blues lost 2 points tonight.
Its pretty simple...Flames need one of those teams to lose a game in regulation now. Before it could have been in OT.
