I just had a crazy thought... We should go after Bennett in the offseason. He'd be our #1C and the best player on our entire roster (outside of Wolf). Not to mention he was Huberdeau's center for his 115pt season.

Signing a 7-year contract for a 29-year-old to get a 32-year-old going would be terrible.

No guarantee they even click again. Stay away from July 1st.

1C? Bennett’s fine in his role but he’s a little over .5 PPG. He’s not the 1C Calgary is looking for.

Hey, I said it was a crazy thought.

...also, we are not rebuilding. Any actions we've taken so far that might be construed as "rebuilding" were literally forced upon us by the players wanting out.

Oh for sure. I know he's not a #1C, but on this roster he would be the defacto top line C. I don't know of any others that would be obtainable by us anytime soon. (While I would love to see some offersheets sent out, the odds of that actually happening are not causing me to hold my breath.)

Would have been awesome in 2019. Not anymore. I like Bennett but he will be 29 and likely have a career high of 55ish points.

They are similar players as well. I know they are retooling, buu you can’t sign the contract Bennett will get. They still have Frost to sign as well.

I can’t see many free agents being attracted to calgary outside of a gross overpay.

The sooner you accept you have no control over what the team does or how the team performs the sooner you can enjoy just cheering for the entertainment along the way.

Bennett is entertaining. I hope they sign him to max term. I don’t care if it’s a bad idea or how old he is.

Sure but the players want money and they also want to win. We can provide money.

Bennett has won a cup and has a lot of success in Florida. He’s going to leave Tkachuk and guys to come play with Sharangovich ?

Playing almost 3 more minutes a game than Bennett.

XGs, 5v5, overall league ranking
11th Sam Bennett (highest ranked Panther)
29th Nazim Kadri (highest ranked Flame)

I think a one-two punch of Bennett/Kadri down the middle would be pretty fun to watch. I also think that Huberdeau Bennett Coronato would play very similarly to Huberdeau Bennett Duclair (Hooby's beat season).

Pospisil has 4 goals and 24 points. We need to upgrade on players like that and push them down the lineup if we want to score more and win games like last night.
