Thinking Bennett will continue to have a big season but still sign in Florida. It's a good fit for both of them. Would get more becoming a UFA but gotta think they make it work

He belongs at the Olympics next year. One of the few bonafide big game players in the world.

You see a game like that, and you see why he was such a high pick. If Bennett ever could have had the consistency to be that player more regularly, there might be a Bennett and Draisaitl debate on this forum a lot with Bennett's all around game being preferred to Leon's scoring.

I'll still contest that the change of scenery for Bennett really helped him. He always seemed to have the John Leclair vibe to me where you knew there was a better hockey player to be unleashed. But like Leclair in Montreal, it was never going to happen in Calgary. As toxic as Daryl Sutter could be, I still think he might have been a guy given 50 to 60 games to work with Bennett could have got him on the track he's now on.

Panthers won 2-1 tonight. Marchand's first game with his new team; played on Bennett's wing. Bennett scored both goals... first one on the PP from Barkov, then he scored the OT winner out front from Marchand behind the cage.

Edit: 25 goals, 49 points in 70 games.

It still bothers me to see him wearing #9 and not #93

Sam Bennett is a winner. That's what matters.

Flames: Anybody want 3rd line winger Sam Bennett?
Florida: Sure, we'll take Stanley Cup champion 2nd line center Sam Bennett!

I'm still convinced that as good as Bennett is in big games, he'll be a terrible sign, as his style of play does not age well. His bet fit is indeed Florida who can take the bad end of his contract, as they are built to win now, future be damned.

Next biggest indictment.

In fact, any negative bought about him is the biggest indictment to me. I will never stop ####ting on the man.

Starting to think we didn't get enough for Sam Bennett in that trade.

Side note 1: Bennett also drew the penalty for the PP he got the opener on.

Side note 2: Gotta love that Chucky was the catalyst for the "Let's go home, baby!" call whenever Florida wins in OT lol.

Side note 3: Bennett's got a huge pair. (edit: according to the color guy after the OT winner lol)
