Yes, but fans speculate and "make excuses" for any player that's playing worse. For example Sharangovich, Pospisil, Backlund, and Andersson this year. Pelletier, Duehr, Vladar, Markstrom and Mangiapane for parts of last year.

I just can't imagine being a fan or spending time on a message board if I wish to think the absolute worst of the team I'm rooting for at every turn.
Even if you wish to think of them as a selfish corporation, they'd still be thinking long term on an asset for their own benefit.

I just think when you are accusing a team of medical negligence you should have some actual evidence behind it
Otherwise you can admit you are talking out your ass and we can move on

Entirely true, but somewhat redudctive in the case of Monahan imo. It was obvious he wasn't holding his stick passing or shooting properly and it's not quite the nebulous conjecture it is in 99% of cases when the player in question immediately goes for surgery in the offseason.
At any rate. I apologize for derailing the thread so much

Players have played through broken feet, heck Stamkos played with a broken leg in 1 game of the playoffs and scored a pivotal goal to boot. Doctors I’m sure are always advising and these players get the absolute best care - just watch the behind the scenes show this year - at the end of the day it’s the players personal choice if he wants to go. Tkachuk had a broken sternum and dressed the next game before finally realizing he couldn’t go in the finals they lost, they get paid the big bucks and ultimately love the game to a degree where players end up playing through some gnarly injuries for the ultimate glory. Definitely not something new here; with regards to Zary he was starting to look like his early season self again and in no way looked rushed back, it’s a high pace game and takes time to catch up to mid season rhythm after an injury like that, what absolute brutal luck on a freak play that sets him back here, not medical negligence.

Believed to be more of a strain, but still don’t expect to see him return this season.

Swing and a miss.
Jiri's comment is a simple statement of fact that requires no medical knowledge, and he isn't providing any opinions on specific injuries.

Good news in that it's not career threatening...

He's officially done or at least should be. Another knee injury and all the other risk factors associated with coming back quickly for what? A single digit chance at a playoff spot? Tweak it again, imbalance issue with hips or groin etc. It's those little injuries over a long period of time that absolutely destroy careers

Taking a while to get to 5000

If he has a chance to come back and help this team get into the playoffs, if they’re in that spot, guaranteed he’ll do it.

I still think he's done and foolish to contemplate bringing him back. Say he's out for 10 days, he comes back for a handful of games for what?
NFL QB Tom Brady had his so called TB12 "system" when it came to muscle, tendon, imbalance injuries. He initially was thought to be nuts with some of his training but the proof was he was a top QB until 45 years old.
He talked about heavy lifting, not fully healing, weight imbalances putting pressure on joints/tendons that were not suppose to be etc Before you know it some minor tweak in a knee is causing major concerns on a groin or a hip which then affects off-season training. You go into next season not 100% healed and trained and then we are talking about a strain or another knee injury in November and pretend like it's not related.
Best for him to rest up, heal up and have a nice long recovery and off-season training to be in top shape for next season.

I’m so relieved that it’s not worse. Really good young player and as with most pro athletes, I think he’ll play the second he feels able to do so and is cleared by the team.

Certainly done for the season then.
It's probably better that he at least has confirmation that he is out and won't put internal pressure on himself to rush it. I don't know if he would or not, but it's not like players don't often do that and make things worse.

It's easy...i saw the difference it made when Wirtz and Melnyk exited, and I'm younger and healthier than current ownership. Plus there's the opposite George effect where the players have been doing us a favour by saying no to our situation and forcing us to draft.

Might be better than knee? Or includes knee? I don’t know what a lower body injury is.

I was worried he was out season to season.
