If think they were finally able to get him to understand what tariffs are and how it will impact the USA.

I'm surprised he was so nice after Carney said they're going ahead with their retaliatory tariffs.
Truly baffling changes in tone.
He must be so relieved playboy Justin is gone.

As soon as he generalizes about anything, the "most countries are agreeing with me, many of them have ACTUALLY apologized", the most/many people are saying garbage... it's all complete and utter bull####.
I still know more about Whitehouse desks than I do anything else that he was ####ing talking about. I think oatmeal brain forgot the god damn question he was answering by the end of his ####ing answer.
Argh, this man is infuriating, choke on a ####ing filet o' fish already.

I hope averting this doesn't stop the move to expand pipelines east, interprovincial trade and aiming for more EU business. We need to get away from these psychopaths.
But people have short memories.

I think we take what we can get along the way with Trump in the near term, but still shift away from the US as much as we can. And Carney's been saying that sort of thing, I don't expect him to pivot back to the US if it means giving up some of our sovereignty priorities.

The funny thing is, the one thing Carney could do to button this election down tighter is announce a truce in the trade war.

I honestly think Trump is manipulate-able enough to arrange a tariff truce with. He just has to like you and see you as good people. He seems to treat countries only as well as he gets along with their leaders.
Look how far Putin has gotten with some strategic flattery and occasional calls just to check in with his "friend".
Obviously it wouldn't fly with Trudeau because there was something personal there, but maybe Carney can.

Anytime I'm tempted to think maybe it won't be so bad, I find it helpful to remind myself of the items on this checklist and the obvious implications when dealing with people who meet most of them.

The markets took a huge dump today, as much as Trump thinks tariffs are a good thing reality is telling him otherwise, he's looking for an off ramp and Canada has pushed back hard which he actually respects more than anything else.
My guess is he's trying to cool the rhetoric so he can find a way out of the 25%

And tonight, he signed an Executive Order to basically change US history by investigating the Smithsonian to remove exhibits that cover their history in a negative manner. Such a sad, pathetic man.

I thought I saw its the ideology of the museums he wants looked at. So yeah, he just drips with racism.

Yeah, but it's one thing to say it when things are looking like a nightmare, it's a whole other thing to actually go through with it if things reapproach normalcy. The easy thing would be to just fall back into the old routines. I have doubts we'll follow through with meaningful change if we're no longer at gunpoint.

Fair enough, as a fellow cynic that's a rational position.

Ado of different subject matter, but modern psychology acknowledges that the Hare Checklist is largely hokum.
I mean if that test was accurate...I'd have some explaining to do and we dont do 'explaining.'

I listened to the Noiser podcast on Mussolini last week. Frightening number of parallels between how Trump is behaving and what Il Duce pulled off 100 years ago. Put your bets down on the US to win the 2026 World Cup as it may very well get rigged.
