even the fact he didn't call him the Governor is interesting.

Also I admit I am a little curious about the 7 desks the president can choose from.

Assuming it sabotages Carney assumes we're as dumb as Americans. Since most of us can clearly see what he's trying to do, I think we're good.

Trump didn't write that tweet. His handlers did. And this is clearly a ploy to try and get PP elected, and it ain't gonna work. Canadians aren't that dumb.

Wtf is going on. Is Carney the Trump whisperer?

He called him Prime Minister to boot.

Did Trump have a beef specifically with Trudeau?

Or is this more games to sway Canadians to vote conservative? (I.e. pretending him and Carney are two peas in a pod)

I'd really like to hear the Canadian side of the story on what went down with this phone call. There's no way Trump would just pull a complete 180 like this unless there was something fishy going on. You can't trust anything Trump says.

Either way, if the friendly banter continues, it might actually end up helping Carney more than anything, as he'd be looked at as some kind of genius for being able to wrangle Trump.

And yeah, I think Trump definitely had some kind of weird beef with Trudeau and just seemed to dislike him in general.

It's more than likely both. Because Pollievres speech in Nanaimo today definitely aimed square at that idea today. "Trump wants a liberal win because they're weak, they won't stand up to him"

Probably wasn't even an hour or two after Trump's presser and Pollievres comments.

Trump is the biggest liar and deceiver in modern history and he has the mind of a child; it’s an obvious game to try and help PP. But we are not idiots.

I'm beginning to think its something as petty as this.

I can also see Trump seeing Carney as his type based on the same criteria.

I imagine Carney said some things to endear himself to Trump short of selling out his own country in any way.

This is a puzzling change in tune.

Maybe he really just hated Trudeau that much
Maybe this is a play to get PP some momentum
Maybe this is an actual sign of de-escalation, though I think unlikely.

Maybe a combo of all 3. At the very least he can have this soundbite float around on X and TS and his supporters can see how "reasonable" he's being

bizarre 180 though

So are we just going to renegotiate trade deals every time the US ####s its pamper?

I hope averting this doesn't stop the move to expand pipelines east, interprovincial trade and aiming for more EU business. We need to get away from these psychopaths.

But people have short memories.

If this is attempted 4D chess by Trump to try get votes for Milhouse, I'm still voting for Carney and I think many still will too. If anything, Carney is smart enough to know what Trump is up to and will adjust his strategy accordingly.

Yup. Carney isn't stupid. He knows that Trump is a narcissist clown and completely full of s***. Sounds like the tariffs are still being applied on April 2nd regardless, so nothing that was discussed today probably changed much at the moment. Maybe Carney just gave him some phony compliments to disarm him a bit and just attempted to dial down the tensions.

Stay the course. Vote in Carney, diversity from the US, buy Canadian when possible. If Trump backs off great, but the bridge is burned.
