Huska was the assistant in both 50 win seasons and ran the PK and defence that contributed a lot to our offence being at the top of the league.

Compare those defences to the current group and you can see why we struggle to score. It’s not all on the forwards.

Maybe we all (diss, you included) can take a break from the accusations of people being unhinged, needing mental health help, violent, etc, because we disagree on whether the team is under or over performing. Lots of threads where that juicy content fits better, but in this one it seems really silly.
I only say he's unhinged because he compared me to Trump when I said Huska is not a bad coach. That's not a normal reaction to someone who has a different opinion. And many people called him out and he kept doubling down.

Either way it is what it is, half these threads get derailed by this guy taking every differing opinion personally. When you're having these arguments with 20 different people day after day, you should realize that maybe you are the problem.

Wolf's wins-above-replacement stat is 2.67, so that means if the Flames had an average goalie instead of him, they would have about 5-6 fewer points.

65 points in 65 games is a lot for a roster this thin, and dealing with key injuries throughout the season.

Huska is not a bad coach by any stretch. He's doing the best he can with what he has.

Yeah people act like if they didn't have Wolf they would be playing without a goalie or something. They would find an NHL average netminder or would have kept Markstrom if Wolf wasn't around.

Not all goalies perform the same on every team. Markstrom gave up back breaking goals. I don’t think this team has the ability to bounce back from the goals he gave up.

Mental toughness is on the coaching staff, or at least a good portion of it, I think. Obviously the players have some culpability there too.

I guess the Flames have no choice but to win the 2026 and 2027 lotteries, draft McKenna and Dupont, add them to Parekh and Wolf, and Scotty Bowman will come out of retirement and lead this team to the cup!

Ah, the oblivious left-winger who thinks anyone who isn't equally left-wing is a traitor.

A columnist I read occasionally calls these gratuitous political tics ‘Trump-et blasts’. Some people can't get through an email or a conversation without loudly informing the world how much they hate Trump. It's boring, irrelevant, and believe it or not, divisive. Not everyone agrees with you, and not everyone wants to see this crap in a thread about hockey.

Geez.

The inability to come back from goals against is not about mental toughness. It's about the lack of scoring ability. Who's going to get that next goal? The team really has no one who can do it reliably.

Which is why you felt the need to bring it back up once everyone had moved on, obviously.
