Feds, we are going to increase payments to the disabled
Ab govt, wait, not so fast there
The federal government is rolling out a new Canada Disability Benefit this summer, but qualified recipients in Alberta won't see the extra money if they already receive payments under AISH, or Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped program.
The Alberta government plans to reduce AISH payments by $200, the monthly amount for the federal benefit.#
Dang, I'm gonna have to watch more Leg coverage. That was fun seeing the NDP bitch slap the UCP around while Marlaina desperately gaslights and deflects.

This one is on the Federal government. Alberta is continuing to exceed the federal government minimum standard and appears to be still the highest level of support maybe number 2/3 but still ahead of Ontario and I believe BC.
Alberta appears to be remaining the leader here and the feds are finally stepping up to pay there share of this cost. Should this amount be higher? Yes. Is Alberta leading the way, also yes.

So if you think the amount should be higher, why shouldn't Alberta continue paying what it was already paying and the total amount could be a tiny bit higher?
Then advocates and politicians in other provinces could show the Alberta amount to fight for increases in their provinces. If you're giving some of the most vulnerable people in the province too little support, it's not much of an own to say, "But everywhere else is worse."

Of the things to complain about the UCP this isn’t one that I am going to spend time fighting. What the UCP did here is not an outrageous dehumanizing policy it is a small policy disagreement. To me the UCP not cutting AISH to the federal minimum is actually a policy win.
I agree better than my admittedly low expectations is a very low bar.
A report card on Canada’s biodiversity conservation progress gives Alberta a failing grade of D-.
Newfoundland and Labrador, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Ontario are lagging behind other jurisdictions and have “demonstrated little or no commitment to protecting more of their land and have shown minimal interest in pursuing effective and equitable processes for establishing protected areas,” the report says.
Medicine Hat’s former Member of Parliament is part of a group hoping to open direct talks with U.S President Donald Trump about Alberta’s future, and is also now calling for a provincial independence referendum this year.
Payne, the MP for Medicine Hat from 2008 to 2015, is listed as a founder and one of several members of the committee, along with Rob Anders, another former Conservative MP from Calgary.

Biodiversity? Sounds like some DEI bull####! Woke left activism at it again!
I actually dislike biodiversity reporting for a number of reasons. Chief among these is that larger declines in speciation and biodiversity on earth are hard to tie to specific regional activities and decouple from general global climate change trends.
Comparatively, how is the biodiversity in Alberta to say Ohio, or the loire valley, or cappadocia?

Conservatives/right-wingers: It's probably part of some nefarious Laurentian Elite cabal agenda, globally controlled by the WEF or liberal deep state! Just to be sure, let's also crack down on abortions, as well as the existence of gay and trans people, and other people whose crotches we can't stop thinking about, to ensure that 'biodiversity' (again, a weaponized term only used by leftist terrorists and those who are always against free markets) never makes it to these shores. And if they do, let's deport that term to ####hole countries (the ones we don't own foreign property in).
Oh yeah, also - free speech for everyone (except those who don't align with our isolationist but also expansionist political views)!
