Huska seems to have a few players in a pseudo dog house. Pachal being one. But I don’t get why Sharangovich gets a free pass when he’s floating around.
I feel like he had a crap start to the year with injuries and that’s part of the reason he doesn’t look like he did last year. Hoping a return to form after the offseason. Need his elite shot back.

I'm sick of this excuse. The injury was at the start of the season. The season is getting close to being completed. How ####ing long does he need to recover???

So you prefer the explanation that he simply forgot how to skate since last season?

It doesn't matter if it was at the start of the season. If he was brought back too soon like it's been rumored it would have never fully healed and may have regressed.
But like I said before, we won't really know if this slump has anything to do with an injury until next season. If he's still struggling then it's not an excuse anymore.

It may be dumb in your view, but it is what it is. Now, if next season goes like this one does, then that will be a different story. Let's just give him the benefit of the doubt right now simply because there is at least a seemingly rational reason at the moment. We don't know if something is still affecting him or not.

For a high ankle sprain, up to a year to regain full mobility.
Meanwhile, it is clearly the opinion of his doctors that he isn't at risk of aggravating the injury by playing. So it's a choice between a Sharangovich who is ineffective because he skates like he's on crutches, or an AHL callup who can't play at the NHL level at all. For that matter, a lot of the Wranglers' current roster have shown that they can't play at an AHL level. That well has run dry for the season.

Well that's not really true of Kerins. I still think he could help inject some offense on the Flames.
Another team with similar record as isles, which in my mind,,, lands the flames “as good at hockey” as the isles.
And as a result, it’s definitely a game to be won against a very mediocre team.
Just do it boys.

A bad period by the Isles in the second, with Hogberg the only reason why the game remains tied after 40 minutes. I feel Fasching's chance late in the second walking in on Vladar was the best opportunity by the Isles.

They looked pretty gassed for the second but it’s all to play for still.

Decent point. Could use another. Will be a tough one to lose now…

one thing the isles really can’t do is get themselves down low with the room to make a play. they really struggle just outside of the crease.

Another game with an opportunity to make a push for the playoffs and they flounder. Standard operating procedure unfortunately, and so was that game tying goal right after they took the lead followed by the OT breakdown.
Quote:
It's going to come down to the last week. Then you look back at games last fall that were won or lost and realize it's a long season but the math is the math and everygame is big in a season possibly decided by 1 point at the end.
Quote:
Gosh that was a weak goal all around. All three isles standing still Dobson moved away from the shooter.
Quote:
Dobson couldn't have played a worse OT there
Quote:
Even got his signature low-quality pads shot that goes right to the other team lmao
Quote:
That's what absolutely killed me, he just gave up possession the second we got it. Awful shot.
Then pucks kept jumping over his stick and then was caught out of position.
Quote:
IDC how tired you are Tony D has to at least make an attempt there.
Dobson sold the game flubbing that pass
Quote:
What's wrong with OT is that at near the end of the season...playing for at least a point becomes almost a given. Let the winner get 2 points and the loser zero.
Quote:
This was a highly winnable game.
On paper, that Calgary blueline without Weegar is one of the worst you're gonna see. And we once again got the "back-up" in net.
But they didn't take advantage of that.
The 2nd period was marred by poor puck and passing decisions, and several positional decisions as well. Where in all of God's great greeness was Pelech going on that 2nd Coronato goal? Everyone in the building knew a pass was coming, but Pelech was basically b-lining it straight to Dobson... Completely missed the boat there. And his obvious cross-check penalty while overzealously forechecking?... Not cool. Not cool at all.
After really poor games from Pageau and MacLean against Montreal, both played again this afternoon as if they were lacking condidence. MacLean's goal was big and may get him a bit straighter in his head but Pageau was, for my taste, mighty Badeau again today. He looks like he's just barely swimming. And it looks like he knows it.
Groin or no groin, if this is what Duclair is, I'll be shocked if we ever see a 15-15-30 season out of him on Long Island. Another 3 years to go. Yikes!
Right now, the guys I like seeing with the puck are Tsyplakov, DeAngelo, Holmstrom, Dobson, and Engvall. That's about it.
At least another point was collected. Gonna be a real hard game against CBJ on Monday.

Gutsy win by the team especially with all the injuries. Fourth line seemed to really struggle tonight. They were all -2. Not sure if there are any alternative roster options right now but I do think the 4th line needs improving. Even when facing the 4th line of other teams, they seem to struggle - Rooney especially.
That's fair. There's been considerable conversation about how to get Sharangovich out of the lineup, and I was thinking of that when I replied.
But I don't know if it's even permitted to send a player down voluntarily so you can make yourself eligible for an emergency recall. I suspect if the Flames tried it, the league would say, ‘Sorry, you have your 12 forwards, there's no emergency. Use Hunt.’

Kerins hasn't (quite) been PPG in the AHL this year. Expecting him to score at that rate in the NHL, or anywhere near it, seems like a pretty wild bet.
