It's the softer support; in some of the city ridings, it'll be tighter than it has been for a long time.
People are very concerned about this. Walk down some aisles in the grocery store or look at some of the travel and purchasing decisions people make these days. There's a very motivated electorate at this point and that is going to show through in the election.

I really hope you are right.

Crazy and big poll from conservative pollster Angus Reid.
42 Liberals, 37 Conservatives, 9 NDP.
Liberals are within 6 points in Calgary. 45-39.

Single digits for Singh / NDP...guess propping up Trudeau for so long was worth completely decimating the party. That's worse than the Alexa McDonough days.
CPC is 8 points down from their peak, but the real story is really the Liberal surge from nationalism and Carney and the complete ineptitude of Poilievre unable to do the obvious steps.

I don't think that NDP bleed is something specific to their actions, I think it's mostly people who recognize the seriousness of the moment and what the next election requires.
The NDP are not going to form government, so a vote for them is merely a principled one that is frankly foolish based on the USSA/Canada political situation.
Conservatives are starting to bleed support from people who were likely voting that way as a form of "let's change things up."
Pierre Poilievre is being exposed for having no message outside of "I'm not Justin and axe the tax" and it's pretty pathetic. Conservative messaging for a decade now has been Canada is broken, Liberals are broken, but providing nothing of note that they would actually do to noticeably improve people's lives.

U.S. President Donald Trump must stop making "disrespectful" comments about Canada before the two countries can start serious talks about future ties, Prime Minister Mark Carney said on Monday.
Trump, who is promising potentially crippling tariffs against imports from Canada, frequently muses about making the country the 51st U.S. state.
"We've called out those comments. They're disrespectful, they're not helpful, and they ... will have to stop before we sit down and have a conversation about our broader partnership with the United States," Carney told reporters in London.

After struggling to get the right application, making numerous phone calls with a number of RCMP officers, and dealing with the postal strike, I finally received my licence. My guns were a present from my late wife, and hold great sentimental value. I have owned my guns for over 50 years, and I hope to pass them down to my children when I die.

As for “requiring a license to own a firearm is ludicrous”? That’s a simply ludicrous take.
|
Like you said renewing your lisence is a simple process. The Canadian Firearms Program also sent out notices months leading up the date of renewal as well. His idea of distinguishing between owning and operating a gun is just insanity as well. Should an owner pinky promise they won't use it thus avoiding registration?

This legislation wastes a lot of time, money and resources without any real benefit. The above officers could have been more effectively used in preventing the recent incident in Nova Scotia resulting in 22 people killed by a man dressed up in an RCMP uniform.

flamesfever, this made my brain bleed. Do you think you struggling with your firearm licences in 2025 in Calgary would have prevented an incident five years ago in Nova Scoia?

Carney has invited Zelenskyy to attend the G7 Conference in June in Kananaskis. Hopefully in place of Trump.

I mean, are these reporters not allowed to ask these questions? Day 1 of actually having to test questions from the media, already going great. I guess now we see why he wouldn't do any actual interviews with Canadian media.

He certainly has Nenshis “when did you stop beating your wife” energy and why do I have to deal with idiots attitude.
I love it but I understand how many people will just see it as arrogance.

They're free to ask what they want to ask, and he's free to answer how he wants to answer.
It's clear that the questions were not asked for genuine purposes, but were instead gotcha questions meant as political attacks. He can and should push back against sneaky gotcha questions.
It's funny how you never take issue with the anger/animosity/dishonesty of the administration to the south when they give their answers to questions. Yet you light your hair on fire for every little thing this government says. Almost like you're a political hack or something.

That's the exact type of attitude needed to take out boobbus and Pierre Yapdog.

I don’t even think he was that testy. He gets asked, answers the questions and it all seems like a non-issue.
