I think this is getting less true by the day. The internet is no longer an organic collection of public information. It's massive players deciding what people see in a way that people voluntarily take part in.

I spent way too long talking to a Harvard PhD holding former coworker who was mainlining the Trump kool aid. He's obviously a very smart person in some respects, but he was living in an alternate reality. The interesting part, is talking with him exposed some aspects where I was living in an alternate reality myself. I'd argue those were a lot more minor, however.

Because things like this take generational building of knowledge and expertise to pull off. We have very little expertise here, and a lot of hard learnings and development of people, institutions and infrastructure to pull it off.

It doesn't mean we can't do it, it just means the timeframes are way longer than what we need now.

A great way to jump start this would be to sign up with Saab, which will lead to manufacturing, operations and maintenance knowledge being imported from Sweden to get us up and running a lot faster than we could do on our own.

In Canada, it is illegal to possess a firearm without a licence. While it is understandable to require certification for the acquisition or use of a firearm, I believe the stipulation to have a licence simply to own one is ludicrous.

I recently went through the frustrating process of renewing my firearms licence, which has to be renewed every 5 years, to ensure that my hunting guns could not be taken away from me. After struggling to get the right application, making numerous phone calls with a number of RCMP officers, and dealing with the postal strike, I finally received my licence. My guns were a present from my late wife, and hold great sentimental value. I have owned my guns for over 50 years, and I hope to pass them down to my children when I die.

This legislation wastes a lot of time, money and resources without any real benefit. The above officers could have been more effectively used in preventing the recent incident in Nova Scotia resulting in 22 people killed by a man dressed up in an RCMP uniform.

No it's not. Say your wife passed them down to your mentally unstable son instead. Still ludicrous?

She would have to do so according to the laws that apply to executors, which I assume would cover such a case if it existed.

Plus, if an unstable person does get a gun in a situation where it’s much easier to get one because they don’t need a license, they won’t use it to kill anyone because they’ll need a certificate to do that!

Great stuff.

Here is why Liberals suddenly came out of the depths of NDP polling land to possibly securing an election.

https://x.com/MarkJCarney

https://twitter.com/user/status/1901366574595878918

https://twitter.com/user/status/1900987653983551663

https://twitter.com/user/status/1899508488818045378

Carney hasn't mentioned Poilievre's name once since Feb 25. Right messages, right actions at the right time with nationalist fervor against Trump being the priority.

https://x.com/search?q=from%3AMarkJC...rc=typed_query

Poilievre has mentioned Carney 10 times on March 14 alone. And any mention of Trump is to try to stupidly tie Carney to Trump.

https://twitter.com/user/status/1899789858115121273

So all we hear today is Carney and how he's looking out for Canada, and we don't hear Poilievre or the CPC because they are too busy talking about Carney. Poilievre isn't saying why he would be the best PM, just that that other side is bad. It may have worked against Trudeau as everyone hated him, but it's no longer working when there is a new public enemy #1.

Why on earth the CPC thought this was a strategy that would work I have no idea. The way this is going, unless CPC pivots really hard, I don't think the election campaign will make a major change.

This is where Cowperson would reference the Star Trek episode of good Spock/bad Spock. The civil man can get by amongst Barbarians. But the Barbarian can't work within a Civil society.

You had to do it. You had to bring Star Trek into it!

The Carney...when the Trudeau fell!

Oh yeah. We're doing the Tamarian again. CP's official second language.

He's doing this to fool everyone, and once elected he'll revert to being just like Justin.

There is no winning with people who have their perspective made up (fed to them).
