PP is just desperately grasping at straws trying to find an angle and his supporters aren’t really used to critical thinking so they’re sticking with what they know and repeating everything he says regardless of how silly it sounds.

What’s the significant change? Maybe renaming the carbon tax? Something he supported in the past by the way. Oddly enough now admits it’s terrible and attempts to hide it.

Pretty sure Melanie Joly ripped Rubio a new one talking about the 51st state. I sure wish they had cameras inside the meeting. She has been super impressive during this tariff crap.

Quote:
"What I said to the secretary is Canada's sovereignty is not up to debate, period," she said at the closing news conference of the G7 foreign ministers meeting.

"There's no argument, there's no conversation about it, there's no need to talk about it," she said. "You're here, you respect us, you respect our sovereignty, you're in our country, you respect our people. Period."

The UN envoy on climate change who had his own International Net-Zero Bank Alliance Climate Initiative?

Again, everything I have seen so far from Carney about this policy is that they are going to shift the portion of the carbon tax away from the consumer (hoping that they're all goldfish and forget?), increase the portion onto Canadian businesses who will pass those increasing costs back onto the Canadian consumer. They're also going to add tariffs on incoming products for carbon as well. Which will also be paid by Canadians.

EDIT: Maybe I am wrong, but is there a policy release about actually removing the carbon tax?

Yeah, the truck itself is the problem. And it's at least a little funny that you assumed the stereotype they were talking about and filled in the blanks yourself.

hahaha. I just re-watched the Jagmeet interview. He'll "allow" the Libs not to call an election early if they make some changes for him. hahahaha

He is just as delusional as PP voters.. wtf?

This G7 meeting sounds like must see TV.

Rubio bans the South African Ambassador from the US! lol and he tried kicking him out of Canada...wtf?

Joly said that the other countries thought Trump wanting to take over Canada was a joke up until the last day...

We heard that Butts was involved in the leadership campaign to some degree and that Telford was making calls on behalf of Carney to draw up support.
I tend to agree that is the risk with Carney. I do think environmentally he will place a price on Carbon to transition away from Carbon fuels. The Mendicino thing concerns me. He did demote guillbert so I suspect he will focus on economics over ideology when it comes to Carbon policy and resource development.

I think one thing that didn’t happen with the leadership campaign is that Freeland didn’t accuse Carney of being Trudeau 2.0. I think if that were true you would have heard that line of attack from Freeland in her quest to be PM. That Freeland essentially took down Trudeau and didn’t attack Carney for being associated with Trudeau suggests that they may be on the same side of the dense in the liberal split. Also Carney gave Freeland a significant cabinet position given the current crisis.

Now if you think of Freeland as old guard liberal as opposed to a person fighting against Trudeau’s influence in the party then you would likely disagree with above assessment

So certainly concerned but hopeful.

What are your thoughts on my assessment of the current conservative base and the risks they pose? Is that too conspiratorial?

Unsubstantiated rumors and some OpEds I've read were suggesting that the candidates had an agreement to go easy on each other and keep things clean because they knew they were stepping into a full blown election campaign right away. They didn't want to attack each other and provide ammo or fuel to the CPC.

I'll get back to the conservative thing later on tonight when I have more time to write something out.

Its not happening for many many reasons. Least of which is the will of the people, both people.

US lacks the authoritarian control say Russia has. To fully control information flowing into the country. Anyone with internet will be able to see what is really going on from a non Trump source. Given the unpopularity of Trump in general, this will cause massive unrest in the US. Americans won’t be controlled like Russians, they haven’t been conditioned for generations like Russians.

Second the war in Canada. Our military would collapse fairly quick…into the bush. Long protracted warfare with a very strong local resistance, that while lacking military training, is highly educated and sophisticated.

Thats even before the whole electoral college that would cancel out Florida and Texas combined. We would walk into this as the big boy at the table aligned with California.

Little Marco is just showing what a lackey he is to repeat garbage like that. Even the ambassador has the cajones to reapond with the American not Trump position. Guy went from freedom hawk to jellyfish for power. Just moronic.

All that is to say, this is and totally is a slimeball boiler room deal making move. The Americans want more military and I am inclined to believe as soon as we show we are all in on military this will go away.

Lets see if the Libs use this to stay in power or do whats right. I have my doubts.

It’s definitely a part of it. The United States has long stated that they want Canada to step up our military contribution to NATO and Norad. and they’re 100% correct, we need to be able to defend ourselves like every other country on the planet.

I think we should invest in a fully Canadian supply chain for Drones weapon systems. Do one thing really well.

Agee 100%. I also don’t understand why Canada can’t develop a strike fighter jet. Sweden can develop a car that’s fairly popular and also fighter jet.

Good idea, and we should make a deal with Ukraine since they have the most drone combat experience.

If anyone thinks Canada is getting any voting power if we became part of the US, I think you might be just a tad bit out to lunch. Not to mention, if things get bad enough that somehow Canada is annexed or whatever other crazy way we become part of the US, I would venture to guess elections in the US would be a thing of the past.
