You hate corruption but want to base your decision on whether or not the UCP are guilty of wrongdoing based on their own investigation into themselves?
Not saying the breakdown should be taken as gospel either, neither should be. We need a public inquiry.

My bad, my sarcasm detector probably got thrown off a little because I’ve actually heard quite a few people try to seriously use almost exactly what you wrote as an argument/defence over the last week or so.
I should probably leave my response up as is anyways so that the people who the UCP are trying to sell that narrative to can read it.
Best to stay ahead of that kind of situation.

Don’t worry, they’re not going to read it.

Once again how is the AB gov't justifying paying for Boobbus's rightwing travel extravaganza? It's a $1,500 fundraiser to see a racist dweeb in some non-accredited college that teaches students in 30 second tiktok videos? hahahaha

Infectious disease specialist Dr. Lynora Saxinger says immunization should be a no-brainer, considering 25 to 40 per cent of cases need to be hospitalized for supportive care.
“This is almost a standard of vaccine success, because it’s highly effective at preventing disease, in the realm of 97 to 99 per cent,” Saxinger said. “It’s also a lifetime vaccine, so once you’re protected from measles, we expect that you’ll continue to be protected against measles life-long.”
|
Quote:
Alberta Health Minister Adriana LaGrange wouldn’t recommend all residents get the measles vaccination, despite being asked point blank by CTV News on Thursday.
“It is a parental choice, and parents and guardians have to make sure that they’re well informed to make the best choice that’s right for them and their families,” she said.

Just north of Alberta, the Northwest Territory’s health minister has a different approach than LaGrange.
“Vaccine hesitancy and misinformation are weakening trust in science and public health,” Lesa Semmler said.
“As Minister and former public health nurse, I urge all residents to check their vaccination status and make sure they are up to date.
“Science has given us the tools to fight these diseases, and it is up to us to use them.”

We are governed by some of the dumbest mother####ers on Earth, and it'd be really nice if they started putting their money where their mouths are, and pay the hospital bills personally for this.

She's not wrong.
It is a parent's choice.
They should make sure they're well informed.
They should make the choice that's right for them.
BUT
She's the freaking Health Minister.
It's her job to inform them that vaccinating your child is the right decision.

Repeating "parental choice" every time vaccines come up is the lamest dereliction of duty ever. Her duty is to public health, which is at the society level. Yes, individuals still have the right to make poor decisions, but we know people are stupid, so they should be told every time it comes up to get vaccinated. By not doing that, she risks the lives of children, the integrity of our healthcare system, and the health of those unable to protect themselves with vaccines for health reasons.
Though at this point, I believe they should have to justify risking the lives of their children, since our government cares so much about them and that adults should be making the best choices for them. And I 100% believe that if you get a vaccine preventable disease, you should have to pay for your healthcare if you need treatment and skip the easy option.

Ex-AHS head challenges premier's comments as province files its defence
https://edmontonjournal.com/news/pol...llowing-policy
Mentzelopoulos claims she briefed LaGrange on Dec. 13, 2024, regarding the in-progress internal investigation and external financial audit.
She claims LaGrange complained that Mentzelopoulos was taking too long to sign the contracts for chartered surgical facilities while acknowledging that some of those contracts may have been “sh——.”
“There’s a lot of sh—– contracts out there in AHS and in government and we have to live with it,” Mentzelopoulos claims LaGrange told her during the briefing.

But you don't have to make new #### contracts, #### for brains!
I guess that's just more expert fiscal managment form conservatives. It's a good thing they are in power so we don't have to worry about waste.

The statement of defence is pretty damning towards Mentzelopoulos - as one would expect in a defence. It will be interesting to see where the court goes with it.

I skimmed it, reads more like a political defence not a legal one. Throwing a lot of insults out, pretty light on actual legalese.

The Alberta government wants to cut more than $400 million in the fees it pays to doctors, according to a confidential memo obtained by The Canadian Press.
The Feb. 18 memo, sent by Alberta Medical Association head Dr. Shelley Duggan to member physicians, says Alberta's health ministry seeks cuts to more than 800 physician billing codes to save $400 million because of budget pressures.
Those codes lay out how much money is paid for specific procedures, sometimes based on the amount of time that a doctor spends with a patient.
"What has become clear in the last few months is that Alberta Health is looking to address its budget shortfalls through the physician services budget," Duggan writes.

Cool tax cut in this years budget though. Gee, I just can't figure out why we have so much trouble recruiting healthcare workers. It's baffling.

I believe in the Jays.
|
One of my wife’s former students killed themself a couple days ago. They came out as trans a couple years back and their parents said if they change their name they can no longer live at home. At school they found somewhat of a safe space, teachers and students called them whatever name they asked to be called, and life was slightly more manageable.
The recent rule changes resulted in teachers no longer being able to use their preferred name, could no longer talk to them about everything, and resulted in school no longer being a safe space.
It would be nice if all parents would help their children with these scenarios, but the reality is that not all of them do. Schools used to be a place where kids could turn to for help, and our government has taken that away.
It makes me sick to my stomach.
