If Ford really wants to scare and confuse them, he should be mixing his terminology and throwing in "hydro" half the time. "We'll be cutting off their electricity, they'll lose all their hydro."

Trump now doubling the steel and aluminum tariff in retaliation to the retaliation.

This was my fear.

We aren’t going to overpower US. I support counter tariffs matching their tariffs. But it seems keeping the 25% tax on electricity has ruffled some feathers.

Unfortunately, Canada is not the big dog here.

China's tariffs are retaliatory in response to Canada's 100% tariffs on EVs from China.

It's kind of understandable. Getting mad at China would be like the US getting mad at us for putting retaliating against their tariffs

These measures are literally the reason Trump keeps waffling on these Tariffs as the stock market tanks. Ford should double the export tax now. You are way off the mark with this post.

Exactly. But escalation isn’t in anyone’s best interests.

There's no need to escalate further. Just leave everything as it is and wait. This son of a bitch is not a stayer, understand? They'll crack sooner or later. When they crack, we win. Have faith.

So when they punish and escalate, we, uh, say thanks?

Yes it is, because Trump has proven to back down, each and every time. Over and over again.

Stock market today: Nasdaq erases gains, S&P 500, Dow extend declines as Trump boosts Canadian steel, aluminum tariffs

Trump is going to spark a recession with this nonsense.

And typical of MAGA folks, despite the damage to their own self-interest, they are still quite smitten by their so very smart and strong leader.

The difference is they need our stuff; we only need their money. Losing money sucks, but not as much as losing electricity.

No.

We counter with equal tariffs. Those are principles I can get behind.

I do not like the escalation.

This is a bad thing for my industry. We diversified our aluminum supply when Canada put in the 25% overseas metal tariffs. Some of that went to U.S. sources. Now we are looking at 50% from the U.S. This is going to hurt companies in a big way.

Same people who applauded and cheered in agreement when Trump blasted the Dems for creating transgender mice so there seems to be nothing so stupid they won’t believe.

I mean you shouldn't even need to explain this, but somehow it keeps coming up.

Pretty sad that people even ask what the difference is.

Shut off the power.

Declaring a national emergency doesn't make the power magically appear. What are they going to do, haul in a bunch of diesel generators?
