I think we’re seeing that Americans don’t actually care about anything.

They care about gun rights and that everyone else has to think the same way as them on every topic.

I know several Americans who do care about the state of their country and the world. The problem is a lot are stupid (maybe a third), another third don’t give enough of a sh1t to vote do they keep electing fascist and criminals.

Read that someone was arrested by secret service near the WH with a gun. Presumably wanting to shoot Trump...

Yea, I have a few friends and family in the States who absolutely care very much about what’s happening. From what they’re telling me, when they’re not busy at work and looking after their families, they’re currently spending a lot of their free time doing what they can by calling/emailing their representatives, showing up at town halls, and helping to organize and participate in rallies & protests etc… And we are finally starting to see some of that stuff happening around the U.S. I believe there’s a huge rally happening in DC this weekend.

The hope is that they can raise enough hell to at least try and buy them some time until the mid-terms. But I’m skeptical. The Dems are essentially powerless right now without holding the House or the Senate. And I feel like by the time we get to the mid-terms, the country will be in complete tatters and the elections will be either heavily rigged in favour of the GOP, or the Trump administration will just try to cancel elections entirely. Perhaps that might finally be a line that some Republicans just won’t cross? Who knows.

“Too stupid” = not caring.

I betcha >=66% don’t care what happen to their country or anyone else. An extremely individualistic society.

To me that’s Americans don’t care. They’re gonna get what’s coming to them I think in the long run. You don’t get to be that ignorant or care so little about your democracy without losing it.

I saw someone explain it as they think its a movie. Bad guys are up right now but 'America', all good and righteous, will swoop in and save the day at the last minute.

They went on to say that, unless they do it themselves, no one is coming.

So, I'm no fancy investment executive, but I've never heard of a deflationary period being called a boom. Is that possible at all? Likely? This lady thinks Tesla is going to $2600 by 2029, so, you know. but?

O' beautiful, for spacious skies
Now those skies are threatening
They're beating plowshares into swords
For this tired old man that we elected king
Armchair warriors often fail
And we've been poisoned by these fairy tales
The lawyers clean up all details
Since daddy had to lie

[Pre-Chorus]
Oh, but I know a place where we can go
And wash away this sin
We'll sit and watch the clouds roll by
And tall grass waves in the wind

[Chorus]
Just lay your head back on the ground
And let your hair spill all around me
Offer up your best defense
But this is the end
This is the end of the innocence

—Don Henley

This song popped into my head over the weekend and I couldn’t stop crying.

They might do well to consider something more like a combo of The Plot Against America, Don’t Look Up and Black Mirror… but that’s just me.

Cutting Social Security and Medicare might finally be the thing that would cause regular Americans to finally lose their freakin' minds and wake up from their complacency.

I made the mistake of reading a few and my head almost exploded from the stupidity on display. Twitter really is the worst.
