Is that the definition of upset and going off the deep end now ?

I think people are frustrated the Flames are doing exactly what they have said they would do all year and are going to be in a position where it’s difficult to find 3 (or more) star players that you need to compete over the next few years.

This year we didn’t acquire a top prospect who could be this star OR finish bottom 5 to draft them .

Look at the teams rosters who are going for the cup. The Flames are 4 or 5 pieces away . Late 1sts aren’t going to get those players - or best case they do and they are in the NHL in 4 or 5 years

I have a hard time seeing how they get much better next year or the year after looking at the pipeline of prospects vs aging veterans . I also don’t see them getting substantially worse . So we will still have the problem of how to get stars into this lineup

The Flames have made a decision about what they want to do and we’re very open about it all year . People hoped the deadline would show a deviation from it because they dont believe the current path forward ends in success

They way they talked about trades on the Fan960, the asking prices were insane. Makes me happy that Conroy didn't bite and overpay. Quite happy they stood pat.

I think some of us are thinking this team has no chance to win once they get there and if they do nothing it's around 50/50 they make it.

Could they sell from a position of strength and still make it? I think they can.

I'd love to trade Rasmus, I believe he is overrated and someone we should not re-sign. But I'm ok to wait until they summer if they want to make the playoffs. 24 mins a game is hard to replace.

If they trade Coleman as I believe there is a market for him. Will their chances of making the playoffs drop to 0 if he was traded? I don't think it would, and it would give someone else a chance to play, and it would add assets to this team, and it doesn't cripple your chances of making the playoffs either.

Returns for players seem to be too good. Boston just added Mittlestadt for Coyle, who knows what Coleman would bring back. Might get a player back that we like with added picks.

100%

It was a sellers market and teams went crazy a bit.

Conroy should have been on the other side of that equation though but it's always Flames fate to be be sellers when it's a buyers market and not sell when it's a sellers market..

Not overly surprised but why do we always seem to be on the bubble and not make moves in a sellers market when prices are through the roof, yet are in a position where we need to offload big assets when its a buyers market?

I get it but yea, stars never seem to align.

What are Vegas and the Kings doing? I can't believe the Kings may go back to back deadlines without doing anything. The Oilers have another bye to the second round :/

If Kadri wanted to move, and Craig wanted to move him he could have been an Av.
Didn't happen.

No big offers for Rasmus, at least nothing to change Craig's mind on if he's available or not but teams have been calling.
Great post

11 trades on deadline day is pretty skinny even by modern standards.

I don't think many fit into that category anymore. I think Conroy has done an excellent job up until this point and I only wanted to see Andersson traded...especially with these values. I don't want Rasmus to be re-signed, and I believe most teams will look back at the high prices paid this year and will hold onto assets more tightly next year. This will undoubtedly result in a much lower return for Andersson as the acquiring team will only get him for one playoff run with his excellent contract.

I just think Conroy may have missed a good chance to make the team better in the future with this trade deadline.

Stop it, these balls can’t get any bluer.

We usually make some minor league boob for boob trade like Dan Keczmer.

If there were good offers then absolutely. But all the evidence we have suggests that the offers were not good.
