There’s always two types of fans:
A) fan of the tam and want them to be and get better.
B) just want trades and that’s all that gets them hard.
Staggering percentage in B).

If they're not selling or making a big move for a potential young offensive difference maker
Then please just stand pat Connie.
Wasting picks on depth guys is such a waste right now.

Sounds like the offers for Andersson aren’t where they need to be. Sounds like Kadri was entertained but he doesn’t want to go to the US.
It also sounds like they’ve inquired on a bunch of players in their focus range (young, grow with the team, etc), but are unwilling to move guys like Zary or 1st/2nd rounders for short term gain.
Can’t see how anyone would be unhappy with that.

I’m happy with the restraint on the buying side.
I’m not as happy the majority of the rumours are of them adding, but nothing I’m getting bent out of shape over.
I expected largely a status quo today.

Exactly! 95% of the fans care. We are the vocal minority.
People that buy tickets and merch care. Business owners that sell merch and food/bev around town care.
Even 4 games would be nice. I’ll take it.

The team is overperforming. But, they're still not a good team, by basically any measure.
What people are concerned about is that, instead of being rational and deciding to keep on making trades like Andersson, like Sharangovich, like Coleman, maybe even like Kadri, the team is pretty evidently focused on trying to make the playoffs.
Making the playoffs doesn't matter to anyone outside of flames ownership, who see $ at playoff revenue.
We will get pumped in 4 games. Almost guaranteed. Then we will be worse off going into a critical offseason for the franchise. Some people even on the Management Support side seem to admit that it's likely the team is going to be worse next season than this season. Likely trending down a couple years as our current top performers continue to age and trend down themselves. We have no real talent pipeline outside of Parekh. Wolf is an RFA in 2026- if we fizz out pre playoffs or in 4 games, then have a worse season, what does that show Wolf about our serious chances of being a competitor as he peaks in his development? I would be extremely concerned about that. Maybe he pushes for a short bridge to UFA if we can't show good progress.

Sort of disappointed with not moving Kadri if there's a desire for him now. I think that's going to go away in the sober light of the off season and he'll get slower and less productive and become untradeable. Apart from that I don't mind what the Flames are doing per se. It does feel they are not moving in any direction though.
Not getting better for the playoffs, but also not improving their retool efforts.

It's not like the Flames are mortgaging the future and are in win now mode. Now if Conroy start trading 1st away, that's a different story.

With the wingers we have, I still think we could make the playoffs and trade Coleman. Gives other players an opportunity without ruining our chances of making it.
Canucks have sold. Blues have injuries and Utah is a bit back.
I love Coleman too. He would be a great add for a contender.

Yup. He should bounce back next year... Calgary can and should be patient with their off year guys.

I think it would solve a lot of peoples anxiety if they announced where the draft picks teams are getting for selling are in terms of number not round.
A 2nd rounder sounds great, but pick 58 does not.

Nah bro, it matters to me.
There's nothing like those playoff game day rituals and the anticipation.
The pundits discounting the Flames (as they always do) and rallying around that.
Knowing in the pit of your stomach it's likely we get crushed, but that crazy things can also happen and there's always that chance.
The smell of spring in the air and hockey to look forward to. The beer flowing, jerseys on the streets and flags on the cars.
Even with just a fool's hope, that's still what it's all about.
Time is just moving faster these days and we don't get NEARLY enough of that playoff fever around the city any more (except that of our neighboring rivals, which is repulsive).
Speak for yourself but I can assure you it isn't just management who wants playoffs.

Rantanen, Walman, Laughton all were extended or have at least another year of term and each received a 1st rounder +
