Interesting. Thanks Diss. Hope Conroy’s at least makes Treliving have to pay a higher price for him.

If they’re using it to retain on pending UFAs in other deals, though, they can do both. I think that’s what Valji’s referencing rather than us retain money on our own players over multiple years

If they stand pat, they give Zary, Coronato and Wolf their first taste of meaningful hockey.

Looking at the returns right now, it's a great market. I'm not sure why you think Conroy would be giving away guys, he's done well so far in trades. I think it would be the opposite in fact, he could get major hauls to speed up the rebuild.

I think I'm resigned to minor moves today, which truly is a disappointment. Silver lining I suppose is that if anyone of significance is moved, it should be for a haul. Let's just hope someone decides to offer that haul.

We’re in a playoff spot. That’s why we’re remaining competitive. Is most certainly is ideal. And we shouldn’t be making big moves unless we can land someone that has an age range that fits. Otherwise, why bother?

We don't know how competitive they or any team will be until they get there. Going on a deep run would be a miracle but with a goalie like Wolf they could atleast win a series.
Either way, being in the playoffs would be a good experience for the younger players and only make them hungier to want to go back which is good for their development. It's more than just drafting.

I wonder what Craig would do if guys like Kadri, Rasmus and Coleman were pending UFA's?
My bet is he'd sell every last one of them despite being in a playoff spot. The fact that they are all under contract past this season means he doesn't have to sell them right now and submarine the team that's battled hard to stay in the playoff hunt.
If the Flames were 5+ points out though, I also bet he'd be attempting to maximize these assets right now.
All we can do is take solace in the fact that the biggest reason we are in a playoff spot right now is because they appear to have a legit starting goalie who should be around for another 8+ years through his prime.

Probably keep them and still believe the flames can make it far in the playoffs.

I don’t mind waiting till next year to sell so that we have more leverage to demand picks in the 26 draft

The more I think about it, the more comfortable I am with the Flames trying to get into the playoffs. They will be probably out in 5 games if they get there, but it gives the younger players a taste of playoff intensity and gives management a chance to see if any of the younger players can elevate their game even more

It's a tough pill to swallow when teams seem to be paying higher prices than expected. Trades so far seem to be great for selling teams.

Ya gotta think the Lindholm deal was still about right, Tanev would’ve got a 1st, and Hanifin likely gets a good prospect included. Maybe zadorov gets a 2nd too

While I am big on selling Anderson, I realize that’s not going to happen. I have been thinking that conny did a great job acquiring frost and farabee when he did. Something tells me he would be paying more for that trade if it was done today.

I don't think Conroy is saying this team is competing for a cup. He wants to keep the team in a competitive mindset on winning every night, and not having a dog-#### roster/mentality expecting to lose every night.

I can see how it's frustrating that the Flames seem to consistently be in a position of indecision because they're a bubble team at inopportune times. Like last year was a buyer's market when we had our big UFA sell off and this year is the seller's market and the players we could potentially move for a good haul aren't able to be moved.
Just seems to be wrong timing for almost everything.
I believe today we will see a big deal come together for the Flames in the waning9ments leading up to he deadline. It'll be fun. If not, can't wait to see what they get for Anderson in a buyer's market next year. And it will be a buyer's market because of the cap going up.
