Honest question.
How do you choose to spend your money? Do you ever eat out at a restaurant? Buy new clothes, or are you still wearing the shirt you got as a gift four years ago? Drink beer? You could save a bunch of money if you stuck to water, you know.
You’re only setting yourself up for disappointment if you think the Flames should never trade a draft pick, ever.
The team deserves it. They’ve played above expectations, fairly significantly in the eyes of many. What do you think the guys in the room want to see? What does doing nothing say to them? Or maybe you’re right and that shouldn’t matter anyway, right. I’m sure the players want to play for a team that just hoards draft picks and cares less about being competitive even though that’s the very characteristic they look for in the players themselves.
If the Flames expect/want their players to prioritize competitiveness, it would be pretty hypocritical of them not to do it themselves.

You don't think they need another proven player, but Conroy does. Chances are the Flames would lose but they would still want to try to win. It's not like upsets don't happen.

Can you confirm it’s low draft picks being shopped ?

Getting dummied in round 1 sounds like a great experience for them.

I'm glad the 04 team wasn't afraid of being "dummied" considering they saved the franchise

Maybe they don't get dummied. Maybe they still lose but give the Jets a hard fought series.
Either way being in the playoffs should give the younger guys even more motivation to go back.

The salary cap saved the franchise.

They also can never make it back again with stupid ownership trying to force things.
We have seen it before.

The only thing you are demonstrating here (again) is how wholly unrealistic and out of touch your expectations and views are.

Why do I feel like if the flames win a round, you would be like
“Well they gonna get murdered in round 2”
And then they win in round 2
“They never gonna make it to the final, waste of a season”
Make it to the final
“Well they aren’t gonna win cause draft picks/elite talent”
Then they win and you just missed all enjoyment from it to crap all over them.
I’m new here and can tell you’re toxic as all hell on these boards. Do you EVER have anything positive to say? Why are you even a fan?(serious question)

This is so true. Culture is extremely important.
We’ve done everything we can to lose (rookie goalie, 3 proven defenders, mix of forwards) yet, here we are.
I’d rather the young guys get playoff experience than teaching them to lose.

Royle9 mentioned the deal he heard was being worked on was for a low draft pick.

They do have a few pokers in the fire, expect any sort of depth trade to be a later pick.

Do you really think Conroy is going to waste a high draft pick on a rental?

zary, Coronato, Wolf, and Pospisil need to experience playoff hockey. I adon't care if they lose round 1. They need to learn how to lose in the playoffs before they can win. If the flames add in the interest of making that happen, I am all for it.

There you assuming because Conroy isn't doing what you want him to do he's being forced by ownership.

Stage 1. ‘Conroy is going to do something stupid because he's stupid.’
Stage 2. ‘OK, maybe Conroy isn't stupid, but he's going to do something stupid because ownership is stupid.’
Stage 3 (coming up Friday night). ‘OK, Conroy didn't do anything stupid, but he didn't make the moves I wanted, so he's stupid just the same.’

I just don't understand how someone can have such a strong reaction with such little information.
We don't know what they would be acquiring
We don't know what they would be trading
We literally don't know anything.
But it's "sickening" apparently.
Just f'n weird.

It's trolling for reactions at this point. But not surprising.
