From a personal standpoint, I see no reason adding a solid defensive guy for a 4th/5th/6th etc should be considered terrible... we can recoup that in the summer easily.

It’ll be a trade for an Okhotiuk/Miromanov-type Salvage Special.

I don’t know why the simple fact that they may add something without knowing what that is and what price they are paying is “sickening”

I’m with you, but it’s not too bad if the player coming in is young enough to grow with the team- I would really rather we keep our firsts though.

Ok, well I don't know what the process would be. I don't see how a PM saying I know so and so verifies anything.

It might have something to do with the fact that you've been repeating yourself endlessly for the last 2 months.

If they are spending a “later pick” on a player, is this player even going to be able to crack the lineup? Considering prices are high, what can you get?

It’s not like they are planning on sacrificing the future to make a run this year. If they move picks it is going to be late picks or it’s going to be picks used to acquire young talent with term.

I think everyone and their dog knows this team is a long shot to do anything in the playoffs, but giving up a late pick to give some of your young core guys that experience is worth it. Not to mention the message it sends them, if they put in the work they will be rewarded.

Nobody wants to see 1sts and 2nds going out the door, but I don’t think that is what we are going to see.

Deadline deals adding are usually picks going out.

Do you think this team should be sending picks for now players?

You can let me know me know why others who feel the same and me draws you to react to me ?

The Flames are not really 'buyers' - for me, buyers means that you are at the position where you are using futures to trade for win-now players on expiring deals to try and get your team over the hump. Conroy is not an idiot. He isn't going to be trading futures for upcoming UFAs. It will be younger players approaching RFA status, or younger players signed to longer deals. I have no issues with the Flames being buyers.

The development of Coronato, Zary and younger guys is amplified by a playoff push and in the playoffs right now, and that has much more value then saving a 2nd/3rd/4th pick in 2026 that maybe cracks the lineup in 2028 or 2029, they'd give up to be a buyer.

This was always the scenario of the Flames were in such a position at this point, which many didn't think they would be.

Even if they get swept that is still very valuable because your young players get a taste of the playoffs. I am pretty sure the year the Blues snuck in and won the Cup you probably thought the same thing about them. It's the playoffs, anything can happen.

I dunno...they just hung around with the best teams in the league on a six game road trip. They're a team. Grinding it out is a winning strategy if you get team buy in and resolve is strong. Theyd be underdogs, but so was the team in '04. I wouldnt count them out.

Conroy has stated many times that they have a plan, and they are not interested in trading for rentals and/or "post-apex" players. They won't deviate from that. If the Flames are sending 1st round picks and the like, it's for legit players that can help now and in the future.

trust.

If it's a low draft pick that's easily replaceable then who cares? If they trade one of their high draft picks it's going to be for someone who is going to be around for multiple seasons.

Adding depth guys for late picks? Am I crazy or do we not have some legitimate depth options on the Wranglers, for free?

Hope Conroy doesn’t do it. I just don’t know that I’ve ever seen value out of acquiring a depth player for a 4th round or later pick, in 25 years of being a diehard fan. Would be happy to be proven wrong.

Likely because yours was the first (over)reaction to the “looking to add” post.

Lol they lost in 3 on 3 on the road to a cup contender after hitting a post and crossbar in OT
