Ugh. Preach. I've been dealing with that for a while.
Unfortunately for me, its been compounded by a pretty bad fall the other day. I slipped on some ice and hurt myself pretty badly
I cant take pain-killers. At all. Not even Tylenol or Advil. So not only the insomnia, but I can't sleep because I'm in pain.
Its good times. Lots of fun.
Worst! I can't imagine doing that sans modern medicine, you are a trooper sir.
And I really shouldn't complain, as I'm getting over a cold and in the leaky phase, the daytime Advil C&S I took has me wired today...actually shocked at how alert I am. I'm just waiting for the sudden rigor mortis to kick in any time now, hopefully not on the drive home.

From when you smoked your head on the parking bollard?
You do know Tylenol and Advil are taken orally right?
No, this is a new one, its a long story involving a broken car (not mine) that I was helping someone with, and nice fluffy, white snow...hiding insidious sheer ice beneath, and also being in a rush to get to work.
Plus a cheerful phone call to the Police from a concerned neighbour due to the copious amount of blood left in the snow.
I unfortunately had to flee the scene of the crime (there was no crime) due to having to get to work. Unbeknownst to me I was bleeding profusely from the back of my head which...caused some problems of it's own.
Namely, it made a disaster of my driver's seat which also caused some concern seeing as I had to try and explain that to the vehicle detailer charged with cleaning it and assuring them that no murder occurred.
When I got to work my receptionist assured me that I was fine. Apparently the rhyme is: "If its all red and no gray then you're okay!"
I dont know how accurate that diagnosis is, but I'm still here.
This whole 'freeze/thaw/freeze/thaw' and then light snow cycle has been something else.

I cant handle modern painkillers so I use more...ancient methods...my father's methods (RIP Dad!)....he called it...whiskey.

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.
Insomnia GMG. Slept maybe 2 hours, have been up all night. Have a super busy day today too, including meetings and running 2 workshops, I have to be "on" all day. Gonna be a rough one..
I wear one of those Blue Tooth headbands and listen to music or podcasts. Puts me into dreamland.

Thanks, yeah I kinda do the same, I'm a rain sounds guy myself. My problem isn't so much falling asleep, it's getting back to sleep after that 2 AM whizz. It's game over at that point a lot.

I haven’t even hit the need to pee then yet, but if anything wakes me up between 2-4 I’m ####ed it’s over. I’m going to be a zombie in my 50s

Yeah it's actually more like 3:30 - 4 AM, but I'm usually up until midnight or a little beyond. I converted it to when I figured the average CP 9-5'er goes to bed for relatability haha.
And I hear ya, all this compounded lack of sleep can't be good for the grill; I'm just waiting for those permanent eye bags to set in. So far so good, but I know it's coming..
