I really wish the media would stop giving this BS Fentanyl/border excuse any airtime. They should know better than anyone that the only reason that topic comes up is to protect these tariff shenanigans legally. They should just state that that straightaway rather than giving it any press.

Responding to that topic just gives it validation which everyone who pays any attention knows is a complete sham.

Yeah that's the choice I'm wrestling with. NFL and MLB are likely the two I'll stop supporting (NBA would be too, but I'm not a big fan).

That said so much of our entertainment has American influence or ownership it's going to be hard to avoid. F1 is largely European...so I'll likely still watch that...but even that still has some American content.

CNN actually did a good job yesterday talking about how the fentanyl excuse is complete nonsense.

I think the correct reply to any time they bring up fentanyl as an issue is to make up our own random issue that we are super concerned about, and then keep hammering home on it that we’re wildly concerned about whatever we decide to make up. This way we can make sure we can concessions to address whatever random thing we make up that isn’t actually an issue.

I was watching CBC news about 30mins ago and they were giving this lots of play. "we even announced a fentanyl czar!" I couldnt believe they were falling for this crap. Embarassing.

Maybe they were desperate to fill air time, I dont know but I have seen other media outlets fall into this same trap way too often. Its ridiculous and makes us look like idiots.

If fentanyl is rolling into the states from Canada (it isn’t) then why isn’t American DHS doing their jobs? The fact is, America is a cesspool of crime and drug trafficking. That’s on them. And it’s on them to deal with their people’s drug addiction problem. This is just a made up piece of crap to attack our country. It’s so dumb.

Every excuse Trump comes up with is completely made up. Fentanyl, his stupid “$200 billion” trade deficit, his fabricated complaints about U.S. banks not being able to operate in Canada…it’s all horses***.

We don't need to make up an issue. The influx of illegal guns into Canada from the US is a huge problem.

The only thing pausing some of the tariffs does is allow the U.S. to buy time to find work arounds to make them less painful. Either commit to stopping the tariffs or do them, there should be no compromise until a time the U.S. is more ready for them.

Canada should show them what fentanyl rolling into the States from Canada really looks like. No holds barred approach. Let it flow!

Oh wait- it’s their border?

Oh yeah. That’s why this is so ####ing stupid.

If there’s any silver lining to another pause, it also gives Canada more time to meet with our other allies around the world, beef up existing trade deals, and begin the process of making new ones as well.

The fentanyl issue was only there so he could declare a border emergency and be able to legislate through an Executive Order.

How does this even work when automobiles are only the final end product? What about tariffs on everything else to make the cars like base steel/aluminum materials, oil for plastics & lubes, and the reciprocating cross border cycle of individual manufactured parts being passed back & forth?
