I expect this announcement to be delivered alongside the news that we caved to all his demands after just a few hours.
*demands may or may not exist and no compromise can be verified*

Maybe the people who have gone from “it’ll never happen” to “he’s just rattling cages!” to “oh well it won’t last long” could find something they actually have half a clue about to comment on instead.

I suspect this is Trumps plan. Continue to impose and repeal tariffs. It creates uncertainty in businesses. Which may make them move operations to the US as the threat and uncertainty is too detrimental.
He bleeds countries without imposing tariffs to actually effect US consumers.
Of course it still will affect consumers as production in the US is more expensive. But a gradual rise in costs can be written off as bidens dault

Play stupid games...
But sure, frame it as Canada and Mexico being desperate and the prez being very, very reasonable and fair.
I really don't care how they spin it, just roll back these stupid and senseless tariffs.

The way I see it is that his “friends” got to buy on the dip and are ready to cash out, so he is cancelling the tariffs so that the stock market goes back up

Great, cancel the tariffs. We continue to diversify and protect our own interests

Ya, he's shown us how untrustworthy and reliable a partner the US is. Best to get the #### off that bus.

Yup, just look at what Doug Ford did in Feb. Tariffs start and he tears up the Starlink contract and pulls US booze off the shelves. The next day he tapes the Starlink contract back up and it is good to go again and US booze is back.

Why? I don’t think so. Sovereignty at stake. Enough talk. We know we need it, ####ing build the capacity already. Just stupid at this point to wait. It also sends a message.

I would not count on this. This government has been instrumental in the last few months in ensuring their party has every advantage possible before heading into the election. You can’t really blame them but it’s certainly not a Canada first approach.

Jason Kenney
So to recap:
▪️the USA’s closest ally gets a 25% tariff on national security grounds,
▪️ China, the USA’s biggest strategic adversary and ultimate source of fentanyl ingredients, gets hit by *lower* tariffs,
▪️ While Trump pursues an economic partnership with Putin’s murderous Russian regime,
▪️and Trump muses about opening negotiations with the Iranian theocracy, the world’s largest sponsor of terrorism.
To the very online MAGA North crowd: stop embarrassing yourselves by defending this lunacy.

US steelmaker Nucor has announced another increase in the spot price (CSP) for hot rolled coil (HRC). Starting March 3, it will be $900 per short tonne for all producers’ plants, except for California Steel Industries (CSI), where the price reached $960 per tonne.

Yeah but Trump said tariffs don't cause inflation! lol. What a mess.
Should mention this is the biggest steel producer in the US raising their prices. Just like they did in 2016.

Trump does not care. The bigger the mess, the better for his masters, and he's too senile to care about anything but applause.
