Apparently Trudeau is expected to speak with Trump on the phone this morning. Hopefully this means the tariffs will at the very least get rolled back some. I can’t even imagine what it must be like to try and talk to that assclown. I don’t think I could control myself from ripping him a new one.

Reports have signalled that even if the US rolls back some tariffs, Canada will keep all of their tariffs on the board unless the US rolls back all tariffs.

Reading the article it says that Canada is not open to lifting “all” of the tariffs. My guess is if they roll back some, we’ll roll back some. If they drop all of them, then we’ll drop all of them. We need to be careful not to escalate anything. They started this and we need to make sure the narrative stays that way.

I think they almost have to take that approach at this point otherwise who’s to say they don’t continue to hold the threat of tariffs over our heads moving forward. After Canada took the steps that they asked for to avoid tariffs by increasing border security only to have them implement them anyways the onus is on the US to prove themselves as a credible and trustworthy ally through actions not words.

Like I said, better late than never.

Can’t change the past so if someone whom I previously disagreed with is doing the right thing now I will always support their efforts in that. I think he sees an opportunity to get back into politics at the federal level with CPC support plummeting so it may be a little self serving, but at this point I’ll take politicians doing the right thing regardless of their motives.
