This does nothing for the Oilers, they still have a terrible defence and a mediocre goalie. First round fodder.

All those guys have had better seasons than Fredric's best...I can assure you many posters thought Skinner was a steal below market value and would score 30+. I certainly didnt and fought those battles in the summer.

They'll have plenty of picks after they trade McDavid.

They have to empty the tank now as far as assets go to go for it. They have this season and next to win a Cup and then the window slams shut.

An American and a UFA, good luck re-signing him.

Yeah but he's not a difference maker. How are the Bruins doing this season?

They still have their 2026 and 2027 1st and 2nd rounders.
I'd like to see them throw those at some rentals.

Which is sad because they don't have any prospects in spots 1-5 or 7-9.

I don’t know the player. I take it he’s meant to improve their PK

I like Frederic but honestly it adds to the log jam of forwards the Oilers have and burns most of their best draft capital in Wanner and the 2nd round pick.
Oilers fans were pretty high on Wanner as a bigger defensive d-man and I wouldn't be shocked if this ends up similar to Kesselring where they give up a valuable depth piece as what's seen as a throw in initially.

Not on this trade necessarily, but I’m surprised Conroy isn’t in on deals like this playing the role of NJ.
Retention for futures. I was of the opinion flames would be in on more of this this season in particular.

He should help there for sure seeing their PK has taken a major step back. They have a lot of centers on their active roster right now. I imagine there will be a lot of players alternating in and out of the pressbox in the playoffs when Kane comes back.

I have first hand knowledge that he grew up a massive Bruins fan, and he will more than likely be super excited for this.
My neighbour played academy hockey with him, and he's also subbed for my beer league summer team.

Puckpedia has them them slightly over the cap now with 23 players on the active roster. I imagine either Frederic goes straight on to LTIR or Savoie gets sent down.

I wonder if ownership would be reluctant to give away real money for magic beans?

They are looking to retain but the return on retains so far has been very poor
