I didn't realize but does Scherzer have two different eye colours?

With respect to Scherzers comments that umps are really good, totally subjective. But he does have a good point of it being a human type activity. Would be good to implement the new system from the sixth inning onwards to start.

Fun fact: when he was pitching for the Mets, the Mr. Met mascot would wear Scherzer eyes.

Varsho hit a homerun on his first pitch of spring training.

He won't be ready to play outfield but Schneider said he may still be ready for opening day.

Man I hope this team shoves this year.

So many players underperforming their projections the last couple seasons, combined with the massive bullpen injuries and volatility last season has everyone so down on them, understandably so.

Yeah exactly. Definitely a benefit to being polite to the umps.

Watched the Tigers/Jays game. I thought Scherzer looked great - seemed like a dominant top-of-the-rotation guy. Not a murderers row for the Tigers though. Yarriel Rosriguez struggled. Command wasn't great and that allowed the Tigers to sit on pitches so they hit him.

Batted around+ in the 4th, Vladdy had 2 infield singles that inning but also hit a HR to deep centre in the 1st. Hopefully he can keep the launch angle up because those hard hit balls play better in the air.

Andres Gimenez hit and made a spectacular play to end the game. Clement's defense was week - muffed a couple of very makeable plays.

Was very impressed with Berroa in the Phillies game. Some of it was probably the hustle of a guy busting his hump for a spot playing against guys warming up - he hit an infield single that should have been an out. He ran hard down the line and Trea Turned fielded it without much urgency. Turner would have more pop in the regular season because Phillies fans would throw things at him for that. Berroa also hit a HR and played some strong defensive CF. I really like his speed as a weapon.

I don't like his offensive profile and consistency
We have enough of that. Did turn s page in triple a last year can he sustain in mlb?

Yeah, definitely not saying he's an MLB starter or anything, just that he had a good game and was noticeable in a few different ways. I think lack of power has been an issue so seeing the HR is good. If he can strike out less with more experience I think he could be a good option as 4th outfielder. Speed makes him a useful pinch runner for a lineup that has Kirk and Santander in it, and also a potential defensive sub for late game in the outfield. Switch hitter is nice as well. If he can translate anything close to the 281 he hit in AAA last year to MLB he deserves to stay considering his speed.

Upside case is a potential younger/cheaper Varsho replacement letting you trade Varsho and give his money to Vlad.

lol they are not trading Vladdy right now.

If they are out of contention at the trade deadline they might do it then.

There is nothing wrong with waiting until the off season to see how Vladdy does this season and then finding out what the market is for him. Right now he thinks he's worthy of a Soto type deal or close to it, you can't give in to that. Let him see what the open market says he's worth, and if he wants to be a Jay for life like he claims, then the Jays can match the highest offer he receives.

I’m in full agreement that they won’t. It’s a business decision that they won’t for marketing reasons. But they should. Fans aren’t going to cancel season tickets or not attend games. They just need a good return so that there’s future hope. Fans love the ballpark experience in the summer, regardless of the team on the field.

Swanson really hasn't worked out. Rough go after his first year.
