Sums it up, to be honest.

The one interesting thing about this point in time, is that I am not entirely sure who you're referring to, and there are plenty of right answers!

I always assume the people who fly the American flag and such have criminal records and can't actually become US American citizens, otherwise, why the #### are you still here? Get your ass down there if you love it so much.

You may have missed it last month (or are just being obtuse), but the Canadian government already published a list of retaliatory tariffs. The only question is the date & time in which it will be implemented.

Between the Zelenskyy bullying debacle, whatever else he's about to roll out, and the effects of tariffs on american consumers, you have to imagine whoever outside of hardcore MAGA was giving Trump and his cronies the benefit of the doubt will abandon ship.

Might even see flocks of formerly loyal supporters split as well (it's already happening in the most ruby red states).

There's always a different tune and attitude that miraculously emerges from people on the right when issues start to affect them directly. They're generally ignorant up until that point.

When things begin to affect livelihoods, we'll see doubts bubble to the surface.

Even their pitiful glee of seeing democrats squirm won't be enough to outweigh the direct impacts their king will inflict on their quality of life after everything from Canada and Mexico suddenly skyrockets in price.

It's just sad that it takes a real life demonstration of consequences to shake them out of their stupidity, rather than logic and a tiny amount of abstract thought.

A house down the street that was recently flying a Trump flag has had the cops there multiple times over the last few years. So I assume they are pretty terrible people. What’s interesting is the Trump flag is now gone and they’re flying the Canadian flag. Wonder if someone said or did something to set them straight.

Now that Trumps techbros got their price to short sell their stuff and make more billions...he can look to lift at the last minute.

Pretty clear he's trying to put all the wealth in the world in the pockets of this group.

Might be a convoy type, I suppose. Was it right-side up?

A silver lining through all of this tariff stuff is that the Canadian flag has finally been detached from the convoy movement somewhat. Maybe they'll go back to yellow vests again. Dare to dream.

They are convoy people for sure. They had Canadian flags up during that business. But we have people flying flags all over the city now for patriotism and now they’ve followed suit. Maybe they’re confused and think everyone is pro convoy now. I assume the person or people living there is/are not playing with a full deck.

Phase 1: match dollar for dollar tariffs across the entire US. Cancel any government contracts that include Musk companies.
Phase 2: If after a month, tariffs do not subside, begin export taxes on energy. Include removing patents.
Phase 3: If this still has no effect, tariff potash to 50-75%. All minerals are export taxed as well.
Phase 4: Turn off all electricity to the US.

The cost to Canadians for any implementation of energy or transit tariffs will end disastrously. Line 5, which is the only pipeline to carry oil and nat gas to Ontario and Quebec , will surely be targeted.

I feel as if our federal governments, doesn't matter who the PC or Libs, have painted us into a box. We're in a prison of our own design.

Why not just phase 4 first? Would do the most damage the quickest. I’m not even sure phase 1-3 would even matter to the USA in the short term.

I’d fear that’s a FAFO situation. Has the highest damage, but likely could transition to rioting. And i don’t really want to test Trump’s temper to have that as the first phase.

I don't know. I genuinely don't. But the cost to Ontario and Quebec could be to high to gamble with.

We could start rail but that will take time and I don't know if we'd have adequate capacity on the rail lines for it.

I don't work in O & G, but wouldn't any tariff, either import or export, simply get added to the discount that WCS sells for? The market price won't go up unless supply goes down, which I suppose could happen if WCS starts becoming uneconomical to produce.

Yeah, you don't start with cutting off power (as tempting as that is).

If and when this debacle is resolved through eventual negotiations, we'll still have to work with these people and have a functioning partnership.

The fallout from something like that will give Trump ammo to take more drastic steps.

Hurting them through the same means they've initiated and escalating where it will apply the most pressure is the way to go.

Targetting energy, critical minerals (which Tesla relies on) and things like potash should be a part of the plan.
