KK is an optical illusion. He’s a big guy.

JJ for Sharangovich? Maybe a bigger deal... JJ and Cozens for Sharangovich, Honzek, and a two seconds? (TBH I'm no good at trade values so im probably way off here)

Dodged a Bullet by not signing Lindholm to the rumored 9M x 8 years ask.

I'm all for getting out of Sharangovich's contract. Next year he will probably be better as per his trend for being good every 2nd season but the money could be better spent on a more consistent producer.

It's not a matter of if but when the buyout comes for that one.

Not sure it's fair to judge this season as a normal on / off pattern with a high angle sprain to start the season.
That's a bitch to recover from.

Those injuries seem to take a long time to get over. Might be a write off season for him.

Seems like Sharangoviches confidence rides a razor thin line. Just doesn't have that swagger he did last year. I'm sure the pre season injury affected him more than it should have.

Yeah but that's been his pattern over five seasons now. It's not like he's getting better deeper into the season where he should be feeling better as the weeks/months go by.

Of the names brought up since Sec's last post, I've got my fingers crossed for McTavish.
But I'm leery it'll be Zegras who I think falls out of the league in a season or two.

Why is Byfield’s name coming up? Did I miss him being on the block somewhere?

I'd agree if we were looking at the middle of his career, but wouldn't agree when you're looking at ages 20 to 25.
Players don't really establish a "pattern" in their early 20s.
But absolutely if that's the pattern without a big injury going forward.

Kyperos was speculating which lead to some saying he was available.

I was happy when they got him as I had seen him in NJD and figured he'd be a good fit here while they retooled. Even the deal he signed. it was fine, as he'd provide some scoring albeit intermittently while they retooled.
Now it seems the retool is being sped up and he doesn't fit. They need scoring now on a more consistent basis. Its too bad. They signed him for what they thought they'd be and thats changed.
Speaking of, I figured Huska would be the guy to see them through the retool and when they were ready to contend he'd be replaced. Not for this thread but does he fit the plan next year?

I would most definitely swap Sharky for Peterka at this point if Buffalo would entertain it.
I'd even drive him to the airport and pack a snack for him too.

Hell I'd even buy him a lego set to work on during the flight!

Lots of players in NHL history checked out of after their big payday, played frightened after their first injury, or just got tired of the grind and coasted for the rest of their career. It’s a thing that happens.

I like Sharangovich. I'd prefer to give him one more year here before considering being trade bait. But if he's needed to liquidate a trade for a Cozens or Byfield then all the power to it.

If the Flames are looking for an LHD with term in the right age group, Samuelsson (age 24) from BUF fits the bill. Something around Coleman would work for both teams. But Coleman’s NTC would probably nix it.

Lots? I’d question that.
These are people at the top of their profession. The elite of the elite are llickh to play 200 NHL games let alone become 100 point players.
I wouldn’t replace’lots’ with ‘there are a few exceptions’.
