Trump and Maga is the worst thing to happen to a western democracy in my lifetime, and I remember the George W. Bush era. And I don't consider myself left wing. Even conservative leaning people should be decent enough to recognize that this is not a stable, well intentioned government. We're not just talking about differences in tax policy here.
However, many people have been completely warped by online culture wars and that has become their frame of reference for what is happening.

Frankly, I think sane people need to recognize this is where the battle is happening, and take it back instead of shying away from it. The lunatics got all the traction in modern communication tools.

Then we're gonna have to make it a thing. Canada is not going to survive this going alone. We need to reach out immediately to the EU, UK, Japan, Australia, and every other democratic country on the planet and work together, which I know that our government has already been doing behind the scenes. Strengthening these ties and banding together on trade and security is the only way forward.
