We have seen this Flames roster play one game with a backup goalie and they looked pretty good. Add a highish end forward and they are certainly in divisional spot converaation...its a few wins above were they are now.

They are 10 points back with one of the worst offences and penalty kills the league.
They had a great effort last night. Washington lost to Vancouver as well are they a piece away?
The team plays a certain way. Low event hockey. They are more than a few high end players away from contending for the division. They are overachieving this year. Terrible take.

Divisional playoff spot - not winning the division.
Right now it's :
Vegas. .638
Los Angeles: .627
Edmonton: .621
Calgary: .561
So that's about 6 points back if you normalize for GP, or the 0.060 points percentage difference being ~10 points over the course of a full season.
Right now they are about equal distance from being in a divisional playoff spot (aka not Wild Card) because they are .060 behind the Oilers, as they are to finishing bottom 10 (0.061 ahead of the .500 threshold for bottom 10).
Neither is likely happening this year IMO.

Divisional spot...as in 3rd
Like I said this is hypothedical adding a top end forward. Team looks deep at forward with everyone healthy though...if they had Frost/Farabee all year I bet they have 2 or 3 more wins.
Also Vancouver didnt win in Washinton...4 other teams have, thats the list

Still wouldn’t make much difference with such a low event style we play. Might help with the OT wins
When you look at the 3 teams above us all have elite #1C and now with San Jose with one and loads of cap space and potentially Anaheim having one with Leo Carlson things look a lot harder.

They gave up a beloved former 1st rounder, a second and took on what the Flyers thought was a bad contract in Farabee.
That's a lot.

6 other teams have beat them at home that’s the list they have the best road record as well.
Deep at forward is only deep of players produce.
That’s like Darryl if we were in the east we would have made the playoffs type excuses.

They have as many points as Farabee and Frost do and they have played less games.
Waivers doesn’t work the way you think it does either. Lots of players go unclaimed all the time doesn’t mean they all suck.

I suspect this is the case as well, but I don’t want to speculate or give false hope that somethings imminent. But lack of names leads me to believe the door is not closed.

Leslie and Steinberg have both suggested it as well that's why it's interesting to me.
I think people discredit insiders too much, sometimes you have to separate their opinions vs their intel. Everyone from Steinberg (dumb Dube contract idea) to Seravalli isn't credible because he had an annoying opinion on this or that. I guess there's no credible insider because they're all annoying and opinionated lol

It’s hard to believe because it makes no sense.
We are living the Huberdeau right now and you want to go out and do it again. We have a coach who plays a style that won’t even fit the player.

Question for those in the know. Is Honzek untradeable and a must as part of the future of the team? Or is he potentially available? I'm not sure what they can give up aside from him, Kadri, or Andersson.

If you dont think that trade improved the Flames lineup you dont have a clue. 95% of the hockey world gave the Flames the W on that trade you have to be a real contrarian to say otherwise.
