Or that we split the vote again and send Terry Wong back to office.

Not my ward, but from my view over here in Ward 7 he seemed to be highly engaged. He was one of the biggest advocates of rezoning, spoke out loud on the green line, etc.
If you don't like those things, you probably think he was absent or useless but I don't think the absentee tag is appropriate.
Also did not realize he was the first black man elected to council in Calgary.

Given that you never had any reason to attempt to interact with him, you really don't have any basis for forming that opinion WRT him being an absentee. [shrug] That said, I had both Penner and Walcott (moved wards in 2023), I'd still say Penner is the worst *ourtney every time.

I see McRae and Wong as two sides of the same coin. Neither are offering to do anything for our communities. Look at their campaigns from last election or the early messages this time. Lots of platitudes and talk about how bad the other/Smith/Trudeau is but no ideas or plans for improvement. The vote splitting talk bugs be because it suggests that Heather McRae is some progressive star when the reality is that she's just as empty as Terry Wong has proven himself to be. At least Terry shows up to the community events to shake hands.

I have a feeling Terry might not run again. Our community had a townhall with him over the blanket rezoning and he looked like it was the last place he wanted to be. Not because he didn’t want to help make a difference but that he was tired of all of the BS that came with the role.
Pure speculation on my part though.

Right, my opinion watching several council meetings and following the issues closely doesn't count because i havent interacted with him 1:1. Ok.
Not saying he isn't difficult to get ahold of for those in the Ward. Or that people cant disagree with his priorities. But he is clearly present and working on different issues. "Absentee" should be reserved for the likes of Chu and those there just to collect a paycheque.

Wong's getting testy, look at this quote:
“From 2023 to 2024, I’ve had an open dialogue with him, so I wasn’t sure why he was being snarky about it, right? But my comment to him is when it comes to supporting the National accessArts Centre and all the good ventures, yeah, I’m there with them. I can do whatever they want. If you want me to make a speech or do an opening, whatever,” Wong said.

"Hey man, I don't know why you're getting snarky. I'm not here to do any work, I'm just here to cut ribbons and take credit for other people's work."

Farkas said he knows there will be those out there who don’t buy the transformation, that it’s for political expediency to bolster a potential mayoral redo.
“The City’s grown in the past 10 years and so have I. I’ve learned that leadership means owning your mistakes,” he said.

So conflicted about Farkas. I agree fully with him on not wanting party politics at the municipal level. And he genuinely seems like a better person than the old him. More mature and reflective.
But he was a real Manning ####weasel when he was on council, and I'm not convinced that he wouldn't revert to the same playbook if given the chance to.

I'm in the same boat, conflicted. But running as an independent definitely helps his appeal

I feel like a massive softie but I like to believe that intelligent people do have the capacity to change.

Farkas is an odd one, because I feel like depending on the suite of options in the next election he may be a legitimate choice, given the way he has spoken since going on his vision quest. But given his history it would be a hard pill to swallow, and I'd consider it a risky choice.
I certainly wont be supporting the UPC by another name person or Gondek. So we will see who else is there.

My feelings exactly. But the fact he is not part of a party means I will at least put him in consideration.
