Canada doesn't win the game without him. The Bennett goal was all him, and the primary assist on the OT winner was a subtle but very talented play.
I came away really impressed.

Dylan Strome-Marner would be two thirds of an absolutely terrible first line. Brutal hockey players.

I don't know why the Flames would mess with a full strength roster that's performing so far.
Would have to be something like Buffalo moving on their ask or a GM presenting a strong offer for Andersson.
If Conroy is eyeing a #4C or #6D upgrade that seems like a TDL day deal.
Hence the above.

I just can’t remember a winger getting this much attention so many years before his draft. We’ve been talking about him since Bedard’s draft year.

Maybe Nail Yakupov was this hyped. But my god he sucked - ENG!

Forget about his flakey history in the playoffs which is what matters.

Mitch Marner last 3 playoff runs
7gp/8p
11gp/14p
7gp/3p
Ovechkins playoff stats for 3 years from 2014-2017
14gp/9p
12gp/12p
13gp/8p
Then he put up 27 points in 24 games and won the Cup. Hockey is full of players that have a "flakey" history in playoffs, until they win a Cup.
You don't want to sign Marner because you want the team to suck for a decade in the hopes that we bottom out, so that we hopefully get lucky and draft a Marner.

No I want us to get lucky so we hopefully draft the next Barkov, or Mackinnon or Towes. Winning #1 centers.
Never said suck for a decade either, been consistent in saying pick high in the next few drafts and you are probably coming out of this rebuild because we already have some good young pieces.

You need to let the Dylan Strome thing go. The way you talk about him non-stop you would think it was the Flames who did not qualify him as a RFA and they somehow turned him down from wanting to play here. He signed with the caps in the summer of 2022 so the Flames were trying to deal with Gaudreau and Tkachuk and remember it was Brad at the helm. End of the day Storme to Calgary was not a realistic. I would like you to share some links from Posts back in the summer of 2022 where you banged on the drum hard for the Flames to acquire Strome because it makes NO sense why you do it constantly now

LOL you're being ridiculous.
I'm no Marner fan but he has 712 points in 633 games in the regular season, and 50 points in 57 playoff games, which is down, but a far cry from "brutal"
Playoff God Sam Bennett has 6 more playoff points in 27 more games.

Lots of people said Johnny couldn't produce in the playoffs, then he put up 14 points in 12 games in his last playoff appearance.
Small sample size stuff like that gets its legs from media needing a storyline

Finished 3rd in Selke voting in 2022-2023 as well.

Well damn, the next two drafts have a LW and a Defenseman going 1st overall most likely. Unfortunate for your plans. Whatever team drafts McKenna or Dupont is going to be kicking themselves for not getting that #1C

lol constantly? I've only been doing it for like 4 days, when I brought up how he was a good player and a good example of not giving up too soon on high draft pick not producing, only to get ~20 replies talking about how he's a terrible player we shouldnt want anyways.

Yes I absolutely agree that what I said was a ridiculous, asinine position. Cobra, Jiri, any comments or notes here?

I was on the suck and draft high bandwagon, but it's time to get off that bandwagon, its not going to happen, largely because of Wolf.
No matter how many times you are saying it, it's not happening.

Marner is an excellent hockey player, but he's not coming to Calgary.
Dylan Strome can put up points in the correct situation, but he's a very flawed hockey player. I don't lose sleep over him.

The biggest problem with the tanking plan is that the team is not bad enough to really tank. I guess if we traded Rasmus, Weegar, Kadri and Coleman for futures they could pull it off. Unfortunately for tanking purposes Conroy believes that having a team committed to years of losing is not the right approach.

Well they are overachieving this year, and doing it because of a rookie goalie.
We will see what happens next year, we don't have enough talent to be competitive outside for being in the mix for that 8-10 range, which likely means playing Wolf a lot.
If Conroy believes the right approach to a cup is going back to the Kipper/Iggy years that is cool. Play Kipper 70 plus and ride a superstar upfront (which we don't even have now) to fight to get 7th or 8th.
