I highly doubt McDavid leaves the Oilers just based on Draisaitl signing the contract he did. Don't think that happens unless he is sure 97 is staying.


However, even if CM gets to free agency, im guessing he will be looking to go South of the border where the media attention he doesn't like a lot, is lower than the cauldron of absurdity that is Toronto, Also, joining a team that actually has had some playoff success....which is the opposite in TO.

Sportsnet numbers were astronomical as well.

[Sportsnet PR] Canada’s victory last night in the 4 Nations Face-Off final was the second most-watched hockey game ever on Sportsnet, averaging 5.7 million viewers, and reaching 10.7 million Canadians. Concurrent audience peaked at 7.3 million when McDavid scored the OT winner.

Most ever watched was game 7 between Oilers/Panthers.

I couldn't believe that there were hockey fans who didn't care about this tournament. Finally a best on best since 2016? Yeah, so Russia isn't there, but you still have 4 of the world's best hockey countries bringing their best players together.



The funniest comments were: "But Draisaitl won;'t be there!". As if people really care to watch Germany? I think the rebuilding Flames have a shot at beating team Germany anyway.


I was so excited for this tournament, and it exceeded my expectations. So much drama, skill, speed.. I watched the entire thing on the edge of my seat, and I am sure most of neighbours knew when Canada scored every time... and they also unfortunately knew when the opposing teams scored every time.



Screw all-star games. A mid-season international tourney would be awesome, but I am sure it won't be that regular.

I didn't care when it was announced last year but the Canada / US political drama of the last few months was the driving factor here, let's be honest. If we had a USA / Sweden final, nobody would have really cared.

Only if the nhl can get euro leagues and IIHF on board, which they currently aren’t, for the World Cup. Otherwise maybe another 4 nations until that gets figured out. Not enough guys from other countries to fill teams if the euro teams don’t release their players.

And who knows how long the olympics thing will last. Until one side gets stupid greedy again.
