What would concern me, and I'm only saying this from purely a sports perspective is how American athletes living in Canada feel when their anthem is being booed and they're treated with hostility?
If you're Brady Tkachuk, Cole Caulfield, Auston Matthews, or in our case Blake Coleman and Dustin Wolf wouldn't that make you feel awkward? Maybe they won't want to be playing for Canadian teams when their being treated like outcasts (or called vulgar terms). I know if might be a stretch, but we already have a tough enough time keeping Americans on Canadian teams... the current climate may only make the situation worse. Booing the anthem is one thing, but throwing the players themselves under the bus is wrong.

Way more important than sports, agreed.
Sports can be a great distraction & temporary escape from it all though. Just like movies, books, etc.
It's frustrating when some individuals refuse to separate the two. The boo-ing of anthems is one thing, but some of the comments in this thread take it to a whole new level.

Then you stack 3 lines and roll those, and play the 4th line for ~7 minutes plus PK time. It's one and done, so stop wasting precious minutes.
You have the ability to have one of MacKinnon, Crosby or McDavid on the ice for basically the entire game. You should do that, rather than trying to convert one of them into a winger and giving up 15 minutes of utter terror. Crosby is the least dangerous of the three and even he is well known for turning Mark Donk and Buzz Flibbett into lethal weapons. They can certainly all do it with Stone and Marner and Hagel and Point. Just stop giving the other team a break to catch their breath, and let your superstars run the ice when they're out there.
EDIT: Here.
Marner / MacKinnon / Stone
Konecny / Crosby / Reinhart
Hagel / McDavid / Point
Marchand / Cirelli / Bennett

You guys should make a deal where WO403 sees a therapist and you trade conspiracy videos for sourced material from experts and then reconvene and celebrate each other's growth and development.
Or just continue on with the same cyclical behavior. Up to you!

Canada seemed like a bunch of talented individuals trying to make a difference on their own. Team USA kind of looked like Canada did in Sochi.
Crosby I think is being misused. He's not really suited to being a winger and he doesn't have that speed anymore. There were a few plays where plays died with him getting checked on the half boards.
A legend of a player, but was largely ineffective last night.
Also the defense seemed aware that they were the weak link. There was zero desire to move the puck north to south in the offensive zone. They just kept trying to move it to the forwards to let them do their work. It made it really easy to defend. There needed to be more shots from the point to create that bit of chaos and let the forecheck do it's thing.
They definitely need to play better than that, or they will lose to them again.

They're better at picking teams, yes. But let's see how that American WJC team does against a team Canada that has Connor Bedard, Macklin Celebrini, Beckett Sennecke, Zayne Parekh, and Michael Misa on it. All of whom were eligible.

Why isn't the media asking American players how they feel about the president of their country threatening to annex Canada? Why is it always on the players to get the #### on the fans for reacting in a completely normal way? If the roles were reversed, Americans would be bringing guns to the arena.

I came here for the hockey talk not the political bull####. Leave politics to the off topic forum where there are threads dedicated to that. Anyone who wants to avoid political talk can avoid those threads. #### off with this bull####. I just want to use hockey talk to have a distraction from the events of the world. Can't even do that here anymore.

Those current events can be discussed in another forum. This one is dedicated to hockey. I am pretty sure that's what he was saying.

This isn't Canada versus Finland then we decided to bring up USA for some reason it's Canada versus USA and the fans were booing the anthem. If you get so triggered just put everybody on ignore

99.999% of threads on this forum have nothing to do with politics. You'd have to be pretty much brain dead to think that the thread for the game against the country whose president is threatening a takeover might not get political.
Stay out of the thread if it's bothering you and stop crying.

I guess it's too much to ask people to stay on topic. I guess I'm not welcome here because I'm an insensitive cry baby. I'll leave so you can continue to be a condescending prick.

Yeah, it is too much, considering the circumstances. Maybe pay attention to the world. If it's too much for you turn of the TV and computer.

Agreed. From what I've seen on reddit today, there are a LOT of new hockey fans now

I said it already in the thread and I feel like I have to again.
I'm sure all Ukrainian men are wanting to talk about things like soccer right now, instead of that pig putin invading their lands. Sticking your head in the sand and pretending orange hitler doesn't matter is stupid, and a you problem.

I disagree.
I do pay attention to the world and I'd like to keep my pastime separate from politics. Not everything has to be intertwined
I'd like to be here for the hockey talk. You seem to want to be all about politics. Maybe you need to start Calgary politics and talk about it to your heart's desire.
