It is being taken seriously. Literally nobody I’ve talked to has said they don’t think he’s serious.
It’s what actions Canadians are willing to take that matters here. Why hasn’t adequate pipeline capacity started to the BC coast? Why haven’t emergency measures been enacted? Like, I’m not joking, digging the expansion capacity should have started Feb 5, the day after the 30 day tariff break. Emergency measures enacted Tuesday and crews mobilized Wednesday. It’s literally this type of urgency needed. Not “well it just takes a long time to build these things! Oh well!” Bull####.
Canadians are looking at leadership who are saying to take it seriously but not acting like it’s a serious threat.
It’s pipes and ramping up armed forces that matter. Everything else is just noise and quite frankly I think way more Canadians are literally okay with becoming American than people on here are willing or want to admit.
Trudeau himself was the one saying Canada is the first post-national state. Okay, well then you’re going to get what you’re asking for if that’s how you really feel.

See how much cash Tourmaline has realized for its LNG contracts to Europe and Asia. $150/boe for crappy gas.

I can "take it seriously" without letting it affect my mental space. All I am advocating for is for people to not get worked up about it. This kind of talk is not out of the realm of normal for Trump. He did the same thing with Greenland last time he was in office. What happened? Nothing.
Nearly everything he is doing now is similar to what he did last time. He massively destabilized the international balance last time he was in office as well and we all survived. I am sure we will again.

Yes, you are not taking it seriously. You admit this (I bolded it for you).
He is serious. This isn't a joke.
I also think that people hoping for a "rise up" are absolutely kidding themselves. And people thinking NATO or Europe will defend us havent been there in a few years. People in Europe are scared as #### about Russia. They don't have time to worry about us getting invaded by an even scarier enemy that they are relying on for protection. There will be cries of anger, but I think they will be limited by the reality of the geopolitical situation we are in.
This is a trade situation. Taiwan, Ukraine, Canada and the resources therein are being treated as bargaining chips. Canada is probably the richest prize, and it is being offered to the biggest player.

Who's saying this?
From what I can gather, people who voted for Trump love what he's doing right now. They like the tough trade talk, they like his immigration crackdown.
Here's a poll: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-a...poll-2025-2-9/

Yeah, do they like the skyrocketing grocery and gas prices? I bet they do. These people are morons.

This is so demonstrable false I don't even understand how you could hold that thought in your head.

Don’t trust MSM polling when it comes to Trump. The MSM is complicit and compromised. We’re not living in normal times.

I checked in with some rural Americans; they think Trump will go easy on Canada until he sees whether we vote common sense or go liberal again. They also like the clean-up job Musk is doing and hope Trump doesn’t let him slack off before he gets rid of all that foreign aid crap.
These are loggers, truckers, sawmill operators, and a few farmers in this group.
